Villa Of Expat In Bali Broken Into By Former Staff

A 24-year-old man named Dominggus Mau from Belu, East Nusa Tenggara has been arrested for breaking into the villa of an expat in Seminyak.

The Head of the Kuta Police Department, Kompol Orpa SM Takalapeta, confirmed that the suspect was arrested after breaking into a villa in Jalan Kayu Aya Gg Nyuh Gading Number 7, Seminyak. He stole electronic devices from a Singapore National with the initials SR.

The incident occurred when SR left his villa on Thursday (31/3). When he returned to the villa a few hours late, he noticed someone had broken in as many of his things were scattered.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the villa owner before filing a report to the police.

After collecting information from CCTV cameras at the scene, the police managed to identify the suspect. “From the CCTV footage, the suspect, who was a former staff of this villa, was seen carrying a TV and a water pump from the swimming pool worth around USD $700 (IDR 10 million),” Kompol Orpa said on Sunday (3/4).

The suspect was arrested on Thursday (31/3) from his place in Ketewel, Gianyar at 9:30 pm. During the interrogation, he admitted that he had stolen and sold all the electronic devices to a shop in Kerobokan.

“The suspect has been detained along with the evidence as the investigation is still underway,” Kompol Orpa concluded.
