The Head of Klungkung Education Agency, I Ketut Sujana, confirmed that students in Klungkung are required to receive the Covid-19 vaccine booster before attending classes. The in-person learning program will begin on April 2022.

Sujana explained that this policy was initiated by the Klungkung regional government to increase vaccine distribution in the region.

Although the central government, through the Education, Research, and Technology Minister, has already announced that a vaccine booster is not a requirement for students to attend their class, Sujana still decided to implement the policy as part of his strategy to achieve herd immunity in the region.

“This is part of our stategy to motivate our residents to join the vaccination program,” Sujana said on Tuesday (29/3). Despite distributing the vaccine booster to over 50 percent of Klungkung residents, he admitted that the vaccination rate of several villages in the region are still low.

“In accordance with the data from the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, the vaccination rate in five of our villages are still below 30 percent. Meanwhile, the other 21 villages are already at more than 50 percent. We’re optimistic that we can boost our distribution using this approach,” Sujana concluded.

Enforcing vaccination is against human rights (ref. Amnesty Indonesia 2021). Education is a fundamental human right (UNESCO declaration). Klungkung: Take the booster or else...

@Exp, you are confusing between enforcing and a requirement. Education is a fundamental requirement for future assimilation in the work force and community where as a vaccination is recommendable to keep students healthy. Sick students cannot follow an education. They will miss classes if they choose to remain unvaccinated of any kinds.
