Karangasem Police Department arrested two Russian nationals who are suspected of falsifying the results of the COVID-19 PCR test document to gain entry into Bali from Lombok island.
The Head of Karangasem Police Department, AKBP Ni Nyoman Suartini said that officers decided to detain the suspects as they attempted to gain entry through Padangbai Port on a ferry trip from Lombok on Tuesday (2/3).
“Our officers became suspicious so they contacted the hospital to confirm the authenticity of the documents and found out that both documents were fake,” AKBP Suartini added.” AKBP Suartini said.
Following interrogation, the suspects admitted that they purchased the fraudulent documents from a local man they met at a food stall in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
Based on their confession, the officers brought them to the Padangbai Police Department cell for further investigation the same day. “They both are now being detained during the investigation process” Suartini concluded.
The Bali Sun previously reported the arrest of three local men for also showing fraudulent test documents to officers at Padangbai Port.
