These floods are no joke. Bali is facing one of the worst rainy seasons in recent history, and with both local communities and tourists being evacuated from their homes and hotels, it’s important that everyone takes a cooperative approach in these trying times.
While the weather is set to improve towards the end of the week, extreme weather warnings remain in place across the province, issued by the Bali Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency. Weather warnings are in place across Badung Regency, Denpasar City, and Gianyar Regency.
For those unfamiliar with Bali’s municipal system, this means that there are weather warnings in place for all of the major tourist resorts, including Kuta, Legian, Jimbaran, Seminyak, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua, Sanur, Canggu, and Ubud.
The Bali Police Rescue Units have been sharing updates throughout their evacuation efforts and have called on the public to “Be present, care to protect.”
In an update shared on Tuesday night, Bali Police shared that personnel from the Bali Regional Police’s Ditsamapta (Rescue and Rescue), along with relevant stakeholders, conducted evacuations for flood-affected communities in Denpasar City and Badung Regency.”
“During these activities, personnel not only helped evacuate residents to safer locations but also rescued pets, demonstrating their concern for the safety of all living things affected by the disaster. Using search and rescue (SAR) equipment and operational vehicles, the evacuation process was carried out humanely and cautiously to minimize risks to the community.”
“The presence of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in disaster situations is expected to provide a sense of security and help expedite mitigation of the flood impacts in affected areas.”
People have been touched not only by the care offered to both tourists and locals during evacuations, especially since many of those the Bali Police are supporting are elderly and children, but also by the care offered to pets.
The Bali Police Rescue Unit shared, “Safety is not just for humans, but for every affected creature.” During evacuations on Jalan Bumi Ayu in Sanur, the team helped rescue local families and their dogs.
“In the midst of a flood, concern knows no bounds. Bali Police Ditsamapta personnel on the ground also evacuated residents’ pets to keep them safe from floodwaters and other hazards. Animals are also part of the family and must be protected and saved.
With a spirit of humanity and compassion for all living creatures, the evacuation process was carried out swiftly and with care to ensure that all residents, including pets, survived the disaster safely.”

Tourists traveling to Bali in the coming weeks and months should know that while the peak of the rainy season is technically behind us, the climate is becoming increasingly extreme and unseasonal.
Rather than the first rains arriving in late October or early November, Bali experienced the worst flooding in more than 70 years when rains arrived in September 2025. Typically, the rainy season ends in late March or early April. Though with heavy rains still hitting Bali, tourists should expect the unexpected in terms of weather.
It is vitally important to have fully comprehensive travel insurance, and always leave more than enough time to travel from A to B, while expecting delays. It is important to check in with airlines and fast boat providers prior to traveling to the airport or ports, especially during periods of extreme weather.
