North Bali is preparing to celebrate the opening of the annual Lovina Festival from July 24 to 27.
Lovina is Bali’s northernmost beach resort and is famous for its resident pod of spinner dolphins.

Lovina Festival, also known as LovFest, is one of North Bali’s most significant cultural events. The Head of the Buleleng Tourism Office, I Gede Dody Sukma Oktiva Askara, spoke to the press about the upcoming festivities on Thursday, 17th July, and outlined what attendees can expect from the cultural celebration.
He revealed that the lineup includes a number of traditional arts performances such as theater and Balinese megoak-goakan attractions, the kecak dance, sang hyang penyalin dance, legendary gong kebyar mebarung, gambuh dance, wayang wong, joged mebarung, and the prakpak war tradition of Padangbulia Village of Bueleleng Regency.
This is not only a celebration of Indonesian and Balinese culture, but of the hyper-local cultural traditions of North and Northwest Bali.
Askara also confirmed that the event schedule features plenty of lively music performances by the likes of Gus Teja, a band, and a performance by DJ Dody.
The Lovfest itinerary will also feature a traditional fishing tournament, a beach cleanup, an exercise competition, community support and aid distribution to local fishermen, a color run, a drawing competition, a sailboat race, a film screening, and a traditional fish feast celebration for all to join.
Askara told reporters, “Lovfest, which has been included in the 100 charisma events of 2025 launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, strives to showcase various forms of Buleleng art, not only to increase tourism but also to preserve the culture of North Bali. Through Lovfest, we also want to stimulate MSMEs and build a direct relationship with tourists.”
The Buleleng Regent, Nyoman Sutjidra, told reporters that the event is the perfect opportunity to showcase all that North Bali has to offer and to encourage a new wave of tourists to visit the area. As Bali’s central south becomes ever busier, leaders in Bali are on a mission to encourage tourists to visit lesser-known areas of the province.
LovFest, as an event, is going from strength to strength and has quickly become one of Bali’s most impressive cultural festivals.
Regent Sutijidra told reporters, “This year’s Lovfest is completely budget-free; we are fully supported by tourism stakeholders and sponsors. Now, this tourism promotion is self-sustaining.”

Regent Sutijdra told reporters that more events are coming to Buleleng Regency, and both tourists and locals should keep an eye out for what is happening in the region.
Sutjidra noted that the Buleleng Regency Government will also host a golf tournament and charity event at the Bali Handara Golf Course on Sunday, 20th July.

This event is set to involve 144 golfers, most of whom are locals from Buleleng. Regent Sutijdra shared, “We gathered Buleleng residents living in Denpasar, outside of Bali, and they were very enthusiastic. This golf tournament is highly anticipated.”
“We even turned away 48 people who wanted to register due to the limited quota.” He shared his hopes that in the future the golfing tournament will be an opportunity to welcome more international tourists and competitors to Buleleng, as well as golfers from around Indonesia.

Lovina is easily accessible from central Bali and is a great place to use as a base for a North Bali vacation. It is not only Lovina Beach that tourists would have access to during a holiday in North Bali, but natural wonders like the waterfalls of Munudk, the Twin Lakes, and Lovina are only a 1-hour drive from the Bedugul Highlands, home to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and The Blooms Garden.
