When travelers think of Bali the first image that may come to mind is of pristine, empty white sandy beaches, and vast expanses of untouched jungle.
While this is certainly the case in some parts of the island, Bali is an incredibly popular travel destination, and sometimes it can be hard to escape the bustling beach crowds.
As the island continues to soar in popularity, more and more tourists want a piece of Bali to themselves.
Many of the busy public beaches like Seminyak Beach, Berawa Beach, and Kuta Beach are more than spacious enough for everyone, but for some, access to a private beach is the way forward.
Last week the notion of whether hotels and resorts in Bali can boast that they have private beaches came into question after a local woman was chased away from Geger Beach close to The Mulia Resort.
A video of the incident went viral online sparking debate amongst many local communities about whether hotels have the right to remove people from ‘their’ beaches if there is no land lease agreement in place.
The Head of the Bali Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, expressed his concern at the reports. He told the media “I emphasize that the beach is a public facility and not part of the hotel. Because (the beach is a public area) it is clearly regulated.”
@caitriona_b Visiting Bali this summer and looking for things to do? I’d highly recommend checking out this beach club in Nusa Dua, its absolutely stunning and such a hidden gem 🤍🌴🍹🥥 📍Canna Bali #indonesia #travel #indonesiafyp #traveltiktok #balitiktok #fyp #travellife #foryou #balilife #balifyp #traveltips #cheaptraveltips #budgettravel #balirecommendation #canggubali #canggu #balifood #balilife #balibeachclub #balipool #nusaduabali #balithingstodo #balirecommendation #balibucketlist ♬ Little Things x Gypsy Woman – L BEATS MASHUP – Jorja Smith
Pemayun has said that he will be communicating with the Tourism Task Force to ensure that hotels that do not have the right to claim private access to beaches are not forcing the public to leave.
All that being said, there are hotels that do have exclusive access to sections of some of Bali’s most beautiful beaches.
Many of the top hotels with private beaches can be found in the VVIP resort of Nusa Dua. The beach destination of choice for celebrities, business leaders and even heads of state, resorts in Nusa Dua offer guests nothing but the finest of travel experiences.
The Ritz-Carlton in Nusa Dua has direct beachfront access for all their guests. The stunning resort can be found at the heart of Nusa Dua and offers guests everything they could ever dream of in a luxury Bali vacation.
Guests have access to a private butler service, exceptionally beautiful pools, and a world-renowned spa.
Many guests at the Ritz-Carlton in Nusa Dua note that the highlight of their stays is access to the private beach which is perfectly manicured by staff day and night.
Naturally, many of the resorts with private beaches are also the most exclusive, but there are some whose room rates won’t break the bank.
Hotels in Seminyak and even up north in Lovina Beach provide guests with direct access to the beachfront.
One of the most highly regarded hotels with a private beach in Bali is the Double-Six Luxury Hotel in Seminyak. The gorgeous resort has direct access to Double Six Beach in the heart of Seminyak.
Ideal for couples, families, and even solo travelers the resort offers guests everything they could need for a memorable vacation in Seminyak.
The pool overlooks Double Six Beach, ideal for those afternoons where the extra few-meter walk to the sand feels like far too much effort on a relaxing holiday!
Already have accommodation arranged for your trip to Bali but still want to get in on the private beach vibes? Look no further than Sundays Beach Club.
Located along the Uluwatu coastline the ever-popular Sundays Beach Club offers day guests exclusive access to a private stretch of beach. With kayaks, SUP, and snorkels to enjoy as well as the incredible atmosphere of the beach club itself, guests have a taste of the 5* treatment if only for the day!

Why should any beach have only private access, this has happened in Bali due to money being passed to the wrong people who couldn't care less about their own people. Very sickening

@Ed Parks, In case you haven't figured it out yet, Bali has double standards, one for tourists, one for natives. Whatever it takes to get the tourists money.

@Wayan Bo,
Most countries don't allow anybody to control the sand and sea front.
