A tornado hit the Canggu beach area in North Kuta on Sunday (17/1).
As a result, a number of buildings were damaged along the coast.

The tornado formed on the west side of Pererenan Beach and headed to the east with strong force, destroying anything it passed.
Many houses and shops were damaged by the tornado, as it tore off roofs along its path.
Following the tornado, heavy rains began to pour.

A local shop owner, Ni Ketut Warni, said that she saw the incident happen in front of her eyes.
“The mini tornado destroyed my shop, and I was terrified when I saw it. Many people ran away from the beach to avoid the tornado,” Ketut Warni said.
Warni panicked and told her husband to flee as the winds got stronger and the sky got darker.
Once the disaster ended, ten semi-permanent buildings, belonging to villagers, were destroyed by the tornado.

The tornado impacted local fishermen, as many storing units were destroyed in the event.
The incident went viral after recorded videos of the tornado surfaced on social media.
Meanwhile, The Head of Regional Disaster Management, Bagus Nyoman Wiranata, said that he has not yet received a report regarding the incident’s full impact on locals.
