It is that time of year again when travellers and holidaymakers start looking at their calendars, strategically planning time off and their next vacation in the sun.
As true travelers, here at The Bali Sun, we love diving into the hottest travel trends to see for ourselves what is worth the hype.

Travel comparison site Skyscanner has released its predictions for travel trends in 2026. We’ve tallied what Skyscanner has found against our own predictions for 2026, and there is a lot of alignment.
The hottest travel trends globally in 2026 will, of course, play out in Bali too, at least not because the Island of the Gods is one of the most in-demand destinations in the world.
New direct flight services to Bali prove that demand for travel to Indonesia’s flagship destination will not slow down in 2026. The latest addition to the weekly schedule at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International is offered by Indonesia’s very own TransNusa Airlines.
The low-cost carrier has confirmed that it has launched a new Singapore-Denpasar route that will run six times a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Other new flight services added to the schedule at I Gusti Ngruah Rai International include Jetstar’s Newcastle-Denpasar route, which connects Australians from New South Wales with Bali directly for the first time. The second major addition to the flight schedule is from IndiGo Airlines, which last month launched a daily direct service between Mumbai and Denpasar.
Speaking to reporters, the General Manager of Bali Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, shared, “We welcome the arrival of IndiGo Airlines, which now offers direct access from Mumbai to Bali. This route not only expands the international flight network at Ngurah Rai Airport but also strengthens tourism and economic ties between the two countries.”
With demand for travel to Bali increasing into 2026, the question of what trends are triggering this rise in interest certainly springs to mind. Skyscanner has shared its predictions for travel trends for 2026 based on data and customer insights, and it makes for very interesting reading.
One top travel trend Skyscanner is forecasting in 2026 is the rise of the ‘Glowmads’, with the travel comparison site explaining “beauty rituals will shape how – not just where – we travel.”
This will be a major travel trend in Bali in 2026, at least not because of all of the world-class spas and salons that the island has to offer, but because the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism itself will be investing in promoting wellness tourism to the international market.
Speaking earlier this month, Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Wardhana told the media, “The world is facing higher stress levels. Tourists now look for destinations offering wellness products so they can return home healthier and more relaxed.”
Minister Wardhana added, “Visitors can learn traditional dance, make herbal drinks, and enjoy healthy local dishes. We also aim to attract quality tourists who stay longer and spend more.”

Wellness and ‘the Glowmad’ go hand in hand. Is there a better place on earth to glow up and enjoy a vacation in the sun? We think not! With exceptional spas and salons in Canggu, Uluwatu, Seminyak, and Ubud, it is possible to depart from a holiday in Bali as a whole new person!
Family Miles is another notable trend identified by Skyscanner for 2026, and we already know this will be a hit in Bali this year.

The rise of the multi-generation vacation has been slowly gaining traction for the last few years, and we can see widespread adoption of this happening on the regular in 2026, especially in family-friendly resort areas like Sanur and Benoa.
Whether traveling with grandparents and young kids, or as adult kids with partners and partners, the beauty of Bali is that the island’s tourism sector caters to every travel demographic, every travel style, and preference and is ready to welcome culturally respectful travellers in every season!
