Bali’s nightlife scene is always growing and evolving.

From secret speakeasies to massive beach clubs, from low-key music venues to good old-fashioned discos, there is always a party happening in Bali.

One of the world’s most loved DJs has recently opened a new nightclub in partnership with one of Bali’s most esteemed music venues.

Desa Potato Head in Seminyak is proudly amongst the most sustainable tourism venues in Bali and has been a trailblazer in the music scene for decades, welcoming emerging artists and tastemaking DJs every single week.

DJ Harvey has made a lifelong dream come true and opened his very own nightclub within the complex of Desa Potato Head.

In a project that has been five years in the making, DJ Harvey opened the new venue in a low-key celebration on New Year’s Eve. With doors open for a little under a month, music lovers and party animals are raving about Klymax Discotheque.

In an Instagram post, DJ Harvey wrote, “Been quietly working these past 5 years on building my own custom club in Bali with Potato Head/Desa,”

He added, “Klymax Discotheque opened without pre-hype or grand gesture on NYE with myself playing open to close.”

He proudly concluded, “One of the finest clubs in the world is now ready for you all to enjoy.”

Klymax Discotheque is open every Friday and Saturday night, with doors opening at 11 pm and live DJs in the mix until the early hours.

While Desa Potato Head welcomes walk-ins, party-goers must register for tickets to events at Klymax Discotheque.

This weekend, the 26th and 27th of January, Klymax Discotheque will welcome Carl Craig + Danny to the decks, and on Saturday night, Marcellus Pittmann and Dita.

Tickets start at IDR 250,000 and are available via the Klymax Discotheque and Desa Potato Head website.

Klymax Discotheque guidelines state that there is no flash photography, no smoking, and no vaping in the venue. Strobe lighting will be used.

Tickets are strictly non-transferable, and the name of the ticket holder must match the name of the ID presented to security teams on arrival. Guests are reminded that WiFi is not available at the door or is, at best, limited, so it is essential to have tickets downloaded and ready before arrival.

DJ Harvey is one of the world’s most iconic DJs. Born in Cambridge, England, he made a name for himself in the early days of the disco-garage-house scene in the USA.

He is the mastermind behind record labels like Harvey’s General Store and Pike Records. He is now based out of LA, though there are hopes that with the new venue opening in Bali, the superstar DJ may be spending a little more time on the Island of the Gods.

Desa Potato Head is one of the most highly esteemed beach clubs and entertainment venues in Bali. In late 2023, it was awarded B-Corp status for its commitment to sustainable business.

In fact, 2023 was a huge year for the Indonesian-owned and operated beach club and resort. Desa Potato Head Suites was named among the Top 25 Hotels in the World.

Nightclubs and other entertainment venues in Bali can breathe a sigh of relief, for a moment, as an official Judicial Review of legislation that would see the entertainment tax increase to 40-75% is underway.

To attract more high-quality tourists, discourage drunk and disorderly behavior, and generate more tax revenue from the entertainment and hospitality sector, the Indonesian government is proposing a huge increase in entertainment tax, which currently sits at 15%.

As the judicial review is underway, the 15% entertainment tax still stays in place as legislators review complaints and concerns by industry leaders.

Many tourists and business leaders feel that introducing a 40% entertainment tax in Bali would devastate the sector and lead Bali lovers to seek vacations elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

"Chlamydia Discotheque is open every Friday and Saturday night, with doors opening at 11 pm and live DJs in the mix until the early hours." Only narcissists are welcome.

Some of the entertainment activities in the category for proposed tax increases do not even exist. Who makes sense of any of the governing initiatives and proposals that emanate from these corrupt clowns. Monty Python couldnt even grasp their perspectives and stupidity.
