Top 50 Hotels In The World Revealed For 2025 Featuring Two Bali Tourist Favourites

It is that time of year again! The World’s 50 Best Hotels has just been announced, and it is no surprise to see that some of Bali’s most beloved properties have been included amongst the winners. 

The 50 Best is one of the most prestigious hospitality awards globally.

Every year, The 50 Best scour the world to create a list of the world’s top hotels, restaurants, vineyards, and more. In 2025, the team will publish an extended list, featuring the world’s top 51-100 best hotels too. 

As outlined by The World’s 50 Best Hotels “list, it is compiled from the votes of the 800-plus-strong Academy of anonymous experts, comprising a balanced mix of hoteliers, travel journalists, educators, and seasoned luxury travellers, each carefully selected by a group of industry-leading Academy Chairs.”

The team explains that “to ensure the more than 800-voter-strong Academy provides a fair representation of the global hotel scene, the Academy Chairs are split across 13 geographical regions. Each Chair is selected as an expert on the travel scene in their region, with outstanding hotel sector contacts.”

“The 13 Academy Chairs each select a voting panel from their region, ensuring a balance of hoteliers, travel journalists, hotel educators, business travellers, and consumer travel aficionados.”

What’s more, at least 25% of the voting panel is renewed each year to keep fresh eyes on the scene.

This is what sets the awards apart from other travel awards. Many award programs are based on a voting system, meaning that hotels with a higher volume of guests or more resources to invest in a campaign often top the charts. 

In a press release, Emma Sleight, Head of Content for The World’s 50 Best Hotels, shared the intention behind creating an extended awards list for 2025.

She shared, “As we enter our third year, we are delighted to honour even more of the world’s most outstanding hotels with the extended 51-100 list. The dedication and passion of the hotel industry mean it is constantly growing and improving, so it is tough for our judges to vote for just seven properties, resulting in just 50 of the world’s best being named.”

“From this year and beyond, we will be able to showcase an even larger pool of hotels and territories, and celebrate the exceptional teams who bring them to reality with the extended list.”

Bali’s big wins at the World’s 50 Best Hotels are to be celebrated. Ranked in 18th place is the ever-impressive Desa Potato Head in Seminyak.

To add an even bigger reason to celebrate, Desa Potato Head has also been awarded the Best Eco-Hotel Award 2025. Desa Potato Head has set the gold standard for Bali hotels in terms of environmental initiatives throughout its business.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels team shares their opinion of Desa Potato Head in a nutshell: “Just steps from the sand, Desa Potato Head is more than just a boutique hotel, standing in stark contrast to the classic luxury of heritage beach resorts across the island.

One of the most exciting aspects of Desa Potato Head is that it is accessible to all. The hotel and resort is also a beach club and community-oriented venue.

Coming in a respectable 50th place is Bali’s Mandapa as a new entry to the top fifty. Known by its full name, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, this sanctuary of a hotel resort in Bali’s Ubud is consistently ranked among the best hotels in Asia.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels highlight the hotel’s commitment to a bespoke service for each guest. The hotel features 35 suites and 25 villas with private pools. Every guest is assigned their own private butler, or patih, for the duration of their stay.
