This Bali Beachside Resort Town Makes Multi-Generation Family Vacations A Breeze

Share The Article

Bali is a destination that offers all things to all people. Whether a budget backpacker adventure or a luxurious honeymoon retreat, the Island of the Gods is a truly versatile destination.

For many families, Bali has become a home-from-home, a place where the whole family, young and old, convene once a year (or more) to reconnect, have fun and make lifelong memories.

There are many resort destinations in Bali that cater to family travelers. One in particular, however, is ideal for the whole family, from newborns to nonagenarians and those with additional accessibility needs.

Sanur, a laid-back fishing town in the south of Bali, is a favorite firm destination for family holidays. Complete with international brand hotels, an accessible beach walk, calm seas, and activities aplenty, Sanur is an obvious choice for a multi-generational vacation.

Sanur Beach is situated just a 25-minute drive door-to-shore from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. With dozens of incredible hotels and resorts to choose from, the trickiest decision to make when planning a vacation to Sanur Beach is figuring out where to stay! What an awesome position to be in!

For a multi-generational holiday that includes toddlers and young children, as well as parents and grandparents, consider staying at the Mercure Resort in Sanur. Offering eight family suites, thatched cottages, and dozens of deluxe rooms with the option of connected access, the Mercure Resort ticks just about every box.

The facilities offer something for the whole gang. With two pools to enjoy, the young and the young at heart can enjoy hours on end being the playful water babies they truly are. For families with a competitive streak, there are badminton, tennis, and volleyball courts for all to enjoy.

Foodwise, there’s once again something for everyone. The on-site restaurant serves up classic Indonesian dishes, incredible seafood specialties, and a wide selection of European favorites too.

Other family-friendly resorts in Sanur that come highly recommended by multi-generation vacation-goers include the Hyatt Regency and Prama Sanur Beach Hotel.

One of the joys of Sanur is its accessibility. Traveling in Bali if you have additional accessibility needs can be tricky, but it is not impossible.

The newly renovated beach walk at Sanur Beach makes it easier than ever for wheelchair users, families using buggies, or those who use walking aids, to have time at the beach. Many of the hotels offer childminding services or kids clubs (or both) so that everyone in the family gets a chance to experience their own little adventures, as well as with the group.

Dozens of restaurants, cafes, and resorts line the beach walk, meaning no one has far to go to access what they want to do during their vacation, whether that be sunbathing, paddling in the sea, sipping coffee, and people watching or relaxing by the poolside.

Sanur Beach is a great location for those who want to fly and flop (e.g., sunbathe and sip cocktails) and for those who want to get out no about and explore all that Bali has to offer. Activities available in and around Sanur include surf lessons, standup paddle, kayaking, and parasailing.

For families wanting to explore further afield, Sanur Beach makes for a fantastic launchpad. Located exactly one hour’s drive from the heart of Ubud, Sanur Beach makes it super easy to plan day trips for the whole family.

During a day trip from Sanur Beach, families can tick off many of the must-do Bali bucket list activities, including visiting the iconic Tellalagang Rice Terraces, the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, and famous waterfalls like Tegenungan Waterfall.

As a family-friendly destination, home to big international hotel brands and smaller, locally owned guesthouses and villas, Sanur Beach is perfectly set up for tourism. Almost all hotels have an in-house travel agent who can help you arrange your day trips, customized to keep everyone happy. Really, once you’ve booked your multi-generational vacation to Sanur Beach, all you have to do is turn up at the airport, and the rest is a breeze!

From 1st April the annoying electric (motor)bikes are banned along Sanur beachwalk. This after a lot of complaints and even accidents. Only pedestrians and bikes allowed.

Are you going to do an article on each town? How about Lovina? Do you know where Lovina is because I have been subscribed for over 4 years and never seen you write that word once.

The way Bali is developing, more and more trash- tourists will visit. Disgusting beach clubs etc. is a magnet for soulless narcissists, taking selfies and staring at their phones all day long. Greed destroyed Bali.

It's game over.

@Benito, it’s sunrise coast nothing for those who prefer nice sunset view. The nicest sunrise is always in airplane if flying against the sun. - Some lokal persons use to say that Sanur is the side of death. If such statements belong to coast against coast competition, it’s unknown yet.
