Terrifying Video Shows Why Bali Weather Service Has Issued High Wave Warning

A terrifying video has surfaced on social media of residents in Karangasem, Bali trying to escape large waves and strong currents. 

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Balai Besar Region III Denpasar issued a large wave warning on Saturday (7/18/2020).

BMKG urged people to be aware of 1.25-2.5 meter sea waves that are likely to occur over the next couple days in the Bali Sea, Sumbawa Sea, the northern part of the Bali Strait, and in the northern part of the Sumbawa strait.

BMKG also appealed to the community to be aware of sea waves reaching between 4 to 6 meters which could potentially occur in the Badung Strait, the southern part of Bali Strait, southern Lombok Strait,  and in the South Indian Ocean of Bali- NTB.

Head of Data and Information Division of BMKG, Iman Faturahman appealed to the community and fishermen to consider the harsh conditions of the sea from July 18th – July 20th. 

“It is also requested to the people who live and move on the coast around areas that have the opportunity to occur high waves to remain vigilant,” said Faturahman.
