Bali’s southernmost beach, Melasti Beach in Ungasan Village, is currently proving to be a huge hit with tourists.

The coastline welcomed a huge surge in tourist visits during the Eid and Nyepi holiday periods earlier this month. With just a few weeks left of the low season, tourists in Bali need to make the most of their time on the sand!

Melasti Beach is not only one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali, but also one of the most culturally significant.

Melasti Beach in Ungasan is where one of the biggest Melasti ceremonies takes place as part of preparations for Nyepi, the holy day of silence and Balinese New Year.

The Manager of Melasti Beach, Wayan Karnawa, spoke to reporters about the surge in visitors during the peak public holiday period and how teams are preparing for the upcoming high season, and Easter festivities.

He revealed that over the Eid and Nyepi holiday period 52,000 tourists visited the beach. Karnawa shared “The most visited day overall was April 3, 2025, with a total of 9,683 visitors, consisting of 8,145 domestic visitors and 1,538 foreign visitors.”

Karnawa predicts that there will be a drop in the number of visitors to Melasti Beach in the coming month or so before the school holidays start in June and July. However, he and his teams are preparing for an influx of tourists, both domestic and international, over the Easter weekend. Karnawa noted “We predict that it will be as busy as during Eid al-Fitr.”

It’s easy to see why Melasti Beach is rising in popularity with domestic and international tourists. The beach is expansive, and even during peak vacation periods, still offers plenty of space for everyone to spread out.

Melasti Beach is exceptionally beautiful, offering incredible views out over the Indian Ocean and backed by the famous white cliffs of the Bukit Peninsula, it is both striking and soothing to the eye.

Melasti Beach is also a fond favorite with young families since there are almost always lifeguards on duty, and a swim safety flag system is in place too. It is also possible to hire stand-up paddle boards and kayaks which provide plenty of fun for visitors of all ages.

One thing that really sets Melasti Beach apart is its facilities. There is ample parking, public toilets, plenty of vendors offering sun loungers and umbrellas at affordable rates, and lots of local warungs and beachfront cafes.

Melasti Beach is home to not one but two exceptional beach clubs. For tourists who want to experience the beach vibe but with a touch more indulgence then booking a day bed or cabana at White Rock Beach Club or Tropical Temptation is an absolute must.

Melasti will no longer be much of a beach as the eastern part already ruined by "rock dumping and land reclamation" as seen in the IG video herein. Work that will cause unpredictable current and possibly more dangers for swimmers in the area.
