Komang explained that the vaccination program will be targeting residents over the age of 18 to achieve herd immunity before the border reopens. “This program was initiated as our effort to turn Nusa Penida into a green zone area from Covid-19 transmissions, and we really hope that international tourists will be allowed to visit once the international travel corridor reopens.” Komang added.

The vaccination sites will be spread in several different locations across Nusa Penida to prevent creating a massive crowd during the process. “We have appointed several places as our vaccination sites such as Lembongan Village, Jungutbatu Village and Nusa Gede, so people can carry out physical distancing measures during the vaccination process.” Komang concluded. Meanwhile the Head of Klungkung Health Agency confirmed that Nusa Penida has just recently received 25,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from Astra Zeneca to be distributed to their residents.
