Leaders in Bali have confirmed plans to create a new GWK Cultural Park attraction on Nusa Penida.

The Regent of Klungkung, who oversees the local government of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan, has shared his vision with the media during a trip to NuArt Sculpture Park in Bandung.

During his official visit to the NuArt Sculpture Park, Regent Nyoman Nuarta revealed his vision for what he is calling the second GWK Cultural Park.

The original GWK Cultural Park can be found in the heart of the Bukit Peninsula, close to tourism hotspots like Uluwatu and Nusa Dua. The cultural park is a kind of living museum and is also home to the incredible Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue, which is the tallest statue in Indonesia.

Regent Nuarta told reporters how, at present, Nusa Penida’s cultural tourism has focused on historical temples and royal palaces, as well as the island’s natural heritage, which is the primary draw for hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.

Nusa Penida is best known as the home of world-famous tourism hotspots, including Kelingking Beach, Diamond Beach, and Angel’s Billabong.

Regent Nuarta told reporters that there is plenty of potential in Nusa Penida, especially in the Puncak Bukit Mundi area of the island, which offers mesmerizing views of both Nusa Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan as well as majestic Mount Agung over on the main island of Bali.

Regent Nuarta told reporters, “We try to make the budget from a third party. I’m sure many investors will be interested in big ideas. Moreover, the viral Nusa Penida is the center of the world’s tourist visits. To become the second GWK Nusa Penida.”

Nusa Penida is seeing a huge tourism boom right now, with more tourists than ever making the crossing from Sanur or Padangbai to visit the outlying island. While Nusa Penida can be visited in a whistle-stop day trip from Bali, many tourists are choosing to take their travels a little slower and book a night or two on Nusa Penida in order to really experience all that the island has to offer.

Once on Nusa Penida, it is very easy to hop over to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, which each have a unique character and cultural heritage of their own. One of the most popular activities for tourists visiting Nusa Penida is swimming with Manta Rays.

The majestic creatures reside within the Nusa Penida Marine Protection Area, along with turtles and seasonal migrations of sunfish. Tourists are encouraged to do their research and ensure that they book manta ray and snorkelling or diving tours with reputable providers who prioritize ethical wildlife encounters.

Throughout July and August, tourists can expect to find festivals, street markets, live music, cultural performances, and so much more happening at the GWK Cultural Park. On the 17th August, the GWK Cultural Park will be hosting its Pesta Rakyal, or Folk Festival.

The first round of presale tickets is already sold out, and with tickets for this annual event in high demand, tourists would be wise to snap up their tickets as soon as possible.

Entry tickets for the GWK Cultural Park can be bought at the gate on the day or in advance on the official website. It is well worth looking at package rates, rather than entry-only tickets, as the package tickets offer access to more areas of the park at discounted rates.

Did anyone ask or survey tourists to know if they want ir will visit a cultural park, or is this just the idea of a select group of people in the community? An Indonesian friend once said to me, "Bali has plenty of money, they just don't know how to use it wisely". Make your own judgment.

Anyway the expats should be glorified, because without expats Bali wouldn’t be such known.

Nusa penida used to be a wonderful place to visit from Bali when they had no cars. Now it's full of people movers racing around the island overcrowding the prime tourist sites. We will not be returning any time soon and especially with the crazy developments happening such as the elevator and this latest grand idea. Keep it natural and people will return.

"There are plans to create a new GWK Cultural Park attraction on Nusa Penida."

With equal amount of concrete? Alarming.

Why not instead start fixing the roads and provide a safe boat transfer? And stop the ridicules glass lift and cliff vandalization.
