It is high season in Bali, and the island’s only international airport is welcoming a surge in the number of holidaymakers.
To celebrate the sun, school holidays, and overall good vibes, Bali Airport is putting on a series of events for passengers to enjoy.

As the gateway to the Island of the Gods, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has launched its ‘Summer Beach’ themed event to welcome all holidaymakers and tourists to the island.
The campaign, launched on 25th June, will run until the end of the month, and both inbound and outbound passengers can join in on the action.
Passengers won’t be able to help but notice the huge summer-themed installations. These include a giant suitcase symbolizing travel, coconut trees, beach umbrellas, colorful surfboards, replica waves, and other tropical ornaments. Tourists will also be able to enjoy installations of Happiness Club characters like Fun Cican, Tahilalats, and Dudu.
These larger-than-life installations have become a new landmark at the airport and make for great selfie spots for passengers. Bali Airport teams have noted how many families pause to capture holiday moments before actually departing for their adventures across Bali.
Speaking to reporters, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport General Manager, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, explained that the event, which is being offered specifically during the school holidays, is part of the passenger experience program.
He explained, “As a transit point for tourists spending their holidays in Bali, we also want to be a part of this special moment. One way we do this is by providing a travel experience that is not only safe and comfortable, but also memorable.”
Shahab also revealed to reporters that Ngurah Rai Airport has collaborated with local artisans and the province’s creative sector. He shared that the products and art performances on display demonstrate his commitment to supporting Bali’s tourism and economy through his role as the head of the airport.
Latest travel data shows that Bali Airport has successfully transported 11.4 million passengers so far this year, across inbound and outbound flights, both domestically and internationally.
Shahab told the media, “In the first half of 2025, we served a total of 11,424,245 passenger movements and 68,891 aircraft movements. These numbers increased by one percent compared to the first half of 2024, which recorded 11,259,019 passenger movements and 68,202 aircraft movements.”
A breakdown of the figures shows that 7,239,415 passengers were international passengers, with 38,123 aircraft movements. Meanwhile, domestic flights carried 4,184,830 passengers, with 30,768 aircraft movements.

In terms of international flights, Singapore occupies the top position as the largest contributor at Ngurah Rai Airport with 1,341,294 passengers. The top three are completed by flights from Kuala Lumpur, which have so far supported 841,610 passengers, and Melbourne with 547,923 passengers.
However, overall traveler demographics show that Australian travelers remain the most frequent international arrivals into Bali, followed by tourists from China and India.

The busiest domestic routes are Jakarta, Surabaya, and Labuan Bajo. Shahab told reporters, “Along with traffic growth, we also continue to innovate services to support operations and passenger service, such as optimizing infrastructure and passenger travel flows at the airport, increasing operational efficiency by implementing Traffic Management (MoT).”

Since Bai’s high season will continue until the end of July and into August, tourists traveling to and from Bali Airport are advised to leave more than enough time for their journeys. While leaders in the province are doing all they can to create new long-term solutions to traffic congestion on the island, at peak travel times, traffic congestion is unavoidable on many routes leading to and from Bali Airport.
