New 2026 Bali Travel Trends Place Bali As Top Travel Destination For Holidaymakers

It is clear that 2026 will be another massive year for travel and tourism in Bali.

Top tourism stakeholders are sharing insights on incoming travel trends to help tourists design vacations and travel itineraries that showcase the best of Bali this year. 

The Chairman of the Bali Travel Association, Putu Winastra, has been speaking to reporters about travel trends his team has spotted so far in 2026.

Winsatra highlighted that 2026 will be the year for nature tourism with a focus on environmental conservation, as well as spiritual travel and wellness. He shared his hopes that interest in tourism villages will continue to grow in 2026, bringing more cultural tourism into the mass market.

Speaking separately, Wahyuning Sri, the Creative Director of Om Ham Retreat & Resort, echoed Winastra’s observations. She noted that the resort has seen a sharp increase in demand and that the habits of travellers are changing too. She explained, “Previously, guests came to our properties simply to stay or find accommodations for their holidays. This year, the notice has shifted to healing and recharging.”

Sri noted that demand for spiritual and wellness travel is being driven by tourists from North America, Australia, and across Asia, with a specific focus on retreats. Sri explained that in light of this, the hotel is working to create more wellness tourism opportunities, a trend that is easy to see across Bali, especially in areas like Ubud.

The wellness trend is not only a focus for Bali-based tourism specialists but for national travel leaders too. The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism confirmed in late 2025 that gastronomy, wellness, and maritime tourism are the key focus areas moving forward.

Speaking to reporters, Gede Budiwijaya, from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, shared, “We hope that these three products can increase the selling power of Indonesian tourism products, so we’re not just selling destinations.”

This means that wellness, gastronomy, and maritime tourism will become a key focus in Indonesia’s super priority destinations, including Mandalika in Lombok, Borobudur in Java, Lake Toba in Sumatra, Likupang in North Sulawesi, and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara.

Over the coming months, travelers planning trips to Indonesia will see more promotion of gastronomy, wellness, maritime tourism, and these five destinations. For tourists planning their vacations to Bali, this offers an easy set of orientation points. Tourists can choose a travel focus, for example, wellness, and then design a travel itinerary around this.

In 2026, another key trend we here at The Bali Sun anticipate seeing more of is the rise of the multi-stop vacation.

Tourists traveling to Bali can experience this in a multitude of ways, either as a multi-stop vacation within Bali, hopping from wellness hotspot to spiritual centre.
