Australian tourists are the most frequent arrivals into Bali, and travel for Bali’s biggest fans is about to get even easier.
In March 2026, a low-cost airline will start a direct flight from the Sunshine Coast to Singapore via Bali.

Jetstar, one of Australia’s top pick airlines, has confirmed that it will launch a new direct flight from the Sunshine Coast to Singapore via Bali on 25 March 2026.
The service will operate three times a week and offer jet setters more than 70,000 low-cost seats annually. This development makes Jetstar the first airline ever to offer direct flights between the Sunshine Coast and Bali.
Travel time will be a snappy six hours, cutting down travel time for Sunshine Coast-based Bali lovers who have previously typically had to take a layover in Brisbane before traveling onwards to the Island of the Gods.
In a press statement, the CEO of Jetstar, Stephanie Tully, shared, “We’re proud to be the first airline to connect the Sunshine Coast to Bali and Singapore. It’s a great win for travellers wanting an easy international getaway.”
She added, “With direct flights to Bali, travellers can trade hours on the road to Brisbane for extra time in paradise and enjoy more of what makes this island paradise so special.
Tully concluded, “Jetstar is proud to be the largest carrier operating in South-East Queensland and we’re excited to continue expanding our network to meet strong low fares demand.”
Echoing Tully’s sentiments, the CEO of Sunshine Coast Airline, Chris Mills, shared, “This is a game changer for the Sunshine Coast. For the first time, locals can fly direct to Bali for an island holiday. Our research showed that this was a highly sought-after destination for locals.”
He continued, “But it gets even better – after a short stop in Bali, the services connect onto Singapore, a global hub. Travelling to Singapore via Bali allows passengers to connect to destinations right across Asia, Europe, and beyond.”
“It opens the world to our region and provides more opportunities for international travellers to land directly at our airport, only minutes from beautiful beaches and the hinterland.”

Mills concluded, “The new route will strengthen the Sunshine Coast’s position as a global gateway for Queensland and enhance access for international visitors looking to explore the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and the wider region.”
The first week of the new service will operate with a schedule of just two flights, before increasing to the three flights weekly schedule as announced. Flights will depart from Sunshine Coast every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, at 9.10 am local time, landing at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International at 1.35 pm.

The homeward flight will depart from Denpasar every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, taking off at 11.50 pm, touching down in the Sunshine Coast at 7.30 am the following morning.
The confirmation of the upcoming Jetstar Sunshine Coast-Bali flight route comes just as Jetstar has successfully added another flight service to the weekly schedule at Ngurah Rai International. For the first time, tourists from Newcastle can now fly directly to Bali on a three-times-weekly service.

Speaking to reporters following the inaugural flight, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, said, “For the first time, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is connected to the city of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia. This route further expands access for Australian tourists to directly enjoy the beauty of Bali without having to transit in another city.”
The Jetstar Newcastle-Bali service operates every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, departing at 9.30 am and landing in Bali at 1.05 pm. Flights to Newcastle depart on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, taking off from Denpasar at 10.20 pm and landing in Newcastle at 7.15 am the following morning.
