A man identified as Bagus Imam Aidin (aged 20) from Jember, East Java will potentially face a life sentence for drug trafficking in Bali.
The Head of Intelligence from the Tabanan District Attorney, Pande Putu Wena Mahaputra, confirmed that Bagus would potentially face the maximum penalty for allegedly getting involved in drug trafficking in Bali.
“The suspect will possibly face either a life sentence or 20 years imprisonment for violating Article 114 Number (1) of Narcotics Constitution Number 35 year 2009,” Mahaputra said on Friday (3/12).
Bagus was previously arrested for possessing 30,000 pieces of the Y type pill and 0.24 grams of meth from a hotel in Jalan Raya Denpasar-Gilimanuk, Kediri Tabanan on September 2021.
“Apart from the imprisonment, the suspect will also be fined with USD $105,000 (IDR 1.5 billion), as a manner of holding him responsible for what he has done.” Mahaputra added.
The suspect attempted to deny his involvement in drug trafficking. Still, he finally admitted everything when the police discovered evidence near his boarding house in Jalan Karang Sari Number 12, West Denpasar.
“During the search, we seized a total of 30,430 Y type pills from his place in Denpasar. According to the WhatsApp chat on his phone, he received the packages from his friend in Jember and planned to distribute them in Bali,” Mahaputra concluded.
