A local woman with initials BWS from Banduny, West Java has filed a report after allegedly being assaulted by an expat in Canggu, North Kuta.
The Head of the North Kuta Criminal Investigation Bureau, Iptu I Made Purwantara confirmed that BWS has filed a report to the police department after being extorted and assaulted by a foreign national named Koffe Christian Yao (a.k.a Harry) who she previously had a relationship with. Prior to the incident, the victim was called by the suspect, asking her to come to his place at the Elev8 Residence that is located in Canggu on Friday afternoon (27/8). “The suspect asked the victim to come to his place on Friday, telling his ex-girlfriend that he wanted to talk.” Iptu Purwantara said on Sunday (29/8).
Without hesitation, BWS agreed and decided to visit the suspect by herself. When the victim arrived at his room, the suspect immediately grabbed her purse and took USD 140 (IDR 2 million) from her wallet. After that, Harry allegedly assaulted and threatened to murder the victim. Shortly after, Harry told her to take him to an ATM and get him another USD 14,000 (IDR 200 million) in cash. Becoming panicked, BWS agreed with his request and they started their drive over to the ATM. At the ATM, the suspect told her to empty out all the cash from her bank account and continue their trip to Ubud. Thankfully, the victim managed to escape from the vehicle when the car that he drove had mechanical issues and broke down. “After managing to extort a total of USD 1,400 (IDR 20 million) cash from an ATM that is located in Kerobokan, the suspect planned to take BWS to Ubud with the same car, but she fortunately managed to escape when the car broke down.” Iptu Purwantara added.
The victim asked for help from nearby residents and decided to file a report to the police later in the evening. “We’re currently still collecting information from security cameras at the scene as the investigation about this case is still underway.” Iptu Purwantara concluded. Meanwhile, the Head of Bali Law and Human Rights Minister, Jamaruli Manihuruk said that he is still unable to find the name of the suspect in the Immigration Office database. “We couldn’t find his identity in our database, so we assumed that he had managed to stay in Indonesia without legal documents.” Jamaruli said on Sunday (29/8).

Another scum-bag foreigner who’s run out of money and turned to crime because they won’t go back to their own country. This story is too common these days…foreigners and criminal acts.
Bali was over-compassionate to allow every foreigner on the island a Covid visa on humanitarian grounds. Balinese are compassionate people to a fault when dealing with the many foreigners who have misrepresented themselves.
Balinese people need to collect all the examples of foreigner crime and face reality, and finally deport those who have deceived Balinese officials into letting them stay on false applications of need, due to Covid. No foreigner needs another humanitarian visa extension. There is no country barring its citizens from entry. Those who apply are liars and frauds. Bad guys…..out !!
