Jembrana Runs Out Of Isolation Space As Covid Cases Increase

Covid-19 cases in Jembrana have surged in the last few days from family and workplace gatherings.

The number of cases reached 589 as 38 new cases were confirmed on Sunday Nov 22nd 2020. In relation to the cases, 155 close-contact individuals were swab-tested, resulting in 41 more cases the following day.

The Spokesman of Jembrana Covid-19 Handling Task Force, I Gusti Agung Putu Arisantha stated that the surge of cases this week maximized occupancy in the isolation facilities:

“Jembrana has 82 units of isolation rooms, 42 in Negara Public Hospital and 40 across several clinics”. From 99 patients, 40 were treated in Negara Public Hospital, 37 are in the clinics, another 2 are in Denpasar’s Hospital, which means there are 20 patients out there that should be isolated.

According to the regulation from Covid-19 Handling Task Force, asymptomatic patients are no longer allowed to self isolation at home. The authorities are currently in search of a  solution. Arisantha explained that the recent cluster of Covid transmission in Jembrana is through the Department of Population and Civil Registration (KPPS). “One of the workers in KPPS has confirmed positive recently, so I told them to disinfect the office to minimize the risk of having another transmission” Arisantha concluded.

Jembrana has a total of 589 total Covid-19 cases, since the pandemic began, with 478 recoveries and 12 deaths.
