The Trisakti Tourism Awards is a prestigious national tourism award in Indonesia that has been running since 2019. The awards were created to help encourage the development of and promote tourism villages across the country.

Tourism Villages, known in Indonesia as Desa Wisata, are seen as a key way to help promote sustainable tourism in the country, help develop the micro, small, and medium enterprise economy by bringing new sources of revenue into more rural communities, as well as providing a platform for tourists to experience Indonesian culture in an authentic and meaningful way.

The 2025 Trisakti Tourism Awards have just been celebrated with a big ceremony held in Jakarta. The Trisakti Tourism Awards gave awards to 23 worthy winners in a range of tourism categories, including eco-tourism, culinary tourism, religious tours, global impact tourism villages, historical heritage, and more.

Naturally, as Bali is Indonesia’s flagship tourism destination, tourism villages in the province were named among the winners on the big night.

Cemgai Tourism Village, home to Seseh Beach, is close to Canggu in Badung Regency. It was named the First Runner-up for the Ecotourism Category.

The Deputy Regent of Badung, Bagus Alit Sucipta, shared his praises for the big win with reporters. He said, “Congratulations to Cemagi Tourism Village for winning an award in the Ecotourism Category, this award is our motivation to improve in strengthening tourism in Badung Regency which we love together.”

He added, “This is an effort to encourage the realization of a tourism village that is sovereign in politics, independent in the economic sector, and has a personality in culture.”

Across Indonesia there were 232 tourism villages in the running for the awards. From Bali Cemagi Tourism Village was included in the Ecotourism Category, Munggu Tourism Village was included in the Historical Heritage Category, Carangsari Tourism Village was shortlisted in the Digital Creative Village category and Bongkasa Pertiwi Tourism Village earned a spot in the Adventure Category.

It was not only Cemgai Village that came away with a trophy from the awards ceremony in Jakarta, but Tabanan Regency too.

Communities in Tabanan Regency won the Best Religious Tourism category, after submitting a video of the traditional Balinese cultural dance, the Legong Andir.

Now with the win firmly under their belts, the team behind the production is excited to soon show live performances of the dance to more tourists and the next generation of local young people who will have the responsibility of keeping the legacy of the Legong Andir dance alive.

He added, “Hopefully these siblings are able to inspire so that the young people of Tabanan realize a new era of Tabanan that is safe, superior, and civilized.”

Tabanan Regency is home to some of Bali’s most important and in-demand cultural and religious tourist attractions. Tabanan Regency is best known for being home to Tanah Lot Temple, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Jatiluwih Rice Terraces.
