In light of the conflict in the Middle East and the impact on energy prices, Idnoenisa has ordered its civil servants to work from home.
With the policy now taking effect after the Eid al-Fitr public holidays, Bali Immigration has confirmed that the situation will not affect tourists.

Speaking to the media, Bali’s Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has guaranteed that immigration services will continue to operate optimally now that the Work From Anywhere (WFA) and Work From Home (WFH) policy has come into effect.
The team has confirmed that this will be the case for all services provided by the immigration office, including those used by both Indonesian citizens (WNI) and foreign citizens (WNA).
The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, explained to reporters that services such as passport applications and replacements, as well as visa and stay permit extensions, remain operational as usual. Immigration checkpoints at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport are also operating 24 hours a day as per usual. He noted, “The WFA policy will not reduce oversight or law enforcement.”
He added We continue to routinely monitor foreigners in our work area, which includes the Kuta, North Kuta, and South Kuta districts.” Speaking separately, the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, emphasized that the WFA policy has undergone risk mitigation so that it does not hinder public interest or national security.
She shared, “We ensure that the WFA system does not hinder our rapid response to the public. Bali, as a global tourism showcase, demands continuous preparedness.”
Ratna noted that the digitalization of services is still supported by the presence of officers stationed in person at key points such as Immigration Checkpoints.
Administrative support is also integrated through the immigration information system to ensure smooth and functional service for tourists, immigrants, and Indonesian citizens. She concluded, “Employee integrity and professionalism remain the benchmark, whether working from the office or other locations. Full oversight remains in place through data integration and field monitoring.”
The work-from-home, or work from anywhere, policy has been implemented for one day a week to help reduce fuel consumption, especially in major cities like Jakarta. The orders were issued by President Prabowo Subianto, who feels that the move is a viable anticipatory measure as oil prices are unstable and expected to rise throughout the year.
He told the media, “We managed COVID before, and we succeeded. And we were able to work from home, and we were efficient, which meant we saved a significant amount of fuel.”

It is not only Indonesia that has implemented these kinds of measures, but so too have the Philippines, which has implemented a four-day work week for civil servants, while Pakistan has prepared an energy-saving scheme through distance learning and work-from-home arrangements.
Thailand has implemented a series of fuel rations, and Australia is also bringing more energy-saving measures into effect.

For most tourists traveling to Bali, interaction with Indonesian immigration is straightforward. For most tourists and holidaymakers traveling to Bali, the easiest way to obtain a stay permit is to apply for the 30-day eVisa on Arrival prior to traveling to the province.
The visa costs IDR 500,000 per person and can be applied for on the Official Indonesia eVisa Website.

This visa covers the majority of travel, leisure, tourism, and social activities in Indonesia, and some limited business activities too.
The visa can be extended one time for a further 30 days via the same website. Within a few days of the extension application, applicants will be summoned to their nearest Immigration Office for in-person document checks and biometrics.
