Incredible Waterfall In North Bali Will Be The Next Must-Visit Natural Wonder

Share The Article

North Bali is the best place on the island to go waterfall hopping.

While there are dozens of beautiful waterfalls in the southern regencies of the Island of the Gods, there is something that hits differently about the dramatic waterfalls up in the north.

Dramatic, breathtaking, and awe-inspiring are words that can be used to describe Bengbengan Waterfall in Buleleng Regency.

The little-known natural wonder is about to undergo a surge in popularity as community leaders are planning to really put the destination on the map.

Located just 1km from the Lemukih Village Office, leaders in the area are excited to be making improvements to the infrastructure around the waterfall to make it easier for tourists to visit.

Bengbengan Waterfall sits in the same hills as Fiji Waterfall, Gerombong, Ikut Sampi, Yeh Mampeh, and Lalang Waterfall, and the destinations are all managed by the Lemukih Village Tourism Office.

Leaders are excited to open up the hidden paradise for tourists in a more formal way.

Bengbengan Waterfall is a sheer 50m waterfall into a densely forested ravine. The fresh spring water flows down the riverine cliff into the clear pool below. The Head of Lemukih Village, I Nyoman Singgih, spoke to reporters about how plans are in place to bring more tourists into the area.

There is so much for tourists to explore in and around Lemukih Village. The community and surrounding landscape are some of the areas of Bali that still maintain their natural beauty and traditional way of life undisturbed by the impacts of resort-style tourism.

Along the village road, there are stretches of clove, coffee, and mangosteen trees, all of which tourists love to stop and learn more about during their visit to the area.

Singgih and the community feel that there is an enormous amount of potential for Lemukih to develop into a tourism village, like popular destinations like Penglipuran Village in Bangli and Pinge Village in Tabanan.

He shared, “This tourism development will really improve the economy of Lemukih Village, especially for the younger generation and entrepreneurs.”

Lemukih Village is home to just 4,335 people, many of whom work in farming.

Sustainable, village-based tourism focused around the many waterfalls and forested hills of the area could certainly bring mutual benefits for both local people and tourists.

Entry for forgiven tourists to visit Bengbengan Waterfall is just IDR 20,000, which the community is using to keep the area clean and invest in improving infrastructure on the trails and the parking area.

The team will also be developing an e-ticketing system which will make it easier for visitors to pay by card, as for now, tickets may only be purchased in cash.

For tourists looking for an adventurous day trip in Bali, it is absolutely possible to visit. Bengbengan Waterfall Fiji Waterfall, Gerombong Waterfall, Ikut Sampi Waterfall, Yeh Mampeh Waterfall, and Lalang Waterfall all in one day.

Be sure to pack good hiking boots, as some of the trails to get to these majestic natural wonders can be steep at times.

But it is not only the waterfalls in and around Lemukih Village in North Bali that should feature high on the Bali bucket list.

To cover more ground, another waterfall hopping adventure starts at Sekumpul Waterfall which is a 15-minute drive north of Bengbengan Waterfall.

Followed by Lemukih Waterfall itself. The day trip then takes a turn to the east, towards the Twin Lakes via a hike down to Tirta Buana Waterfall.
