Glamping In Kintamani Is Proving A Hit With Bali Tourists

Share The Article

Bali is a destination synonymous with sun, sand, and sea. The coastal resorts of the Island of the Gods attract millions of tourists every year.

But there is a whole other side to Bali that is lush, green, mountainous, and proving increasingly popular with tourists.

The villages of Kintamani that sit under the watchful gaze of Mount Batur have seen a huge surge in interest from travelers over the last few months.

Kintamani is famous for being the gateway to Mount Batur.

For a long time, most tourists would choose to stay in Ubud and take a day trip 40 minutes north towards the volcano to explore the caldera lakes, coffee and orange plantations, and the scenic viewpoints of the region.

Over the last few years, local entrepreneurs have opened up glamping venues along the banks of Lake Batur and the surrounding community gardens.

The glamping sites offer not only incredible mountain views and stunning lakeside vistas but also real affordable luxury in a more off-the-beaten-path destination on the Island of the Gods.

The owner of Sunrise Hill Glam in Songan Village in the heart of Kintamani has spoken to reporters about tourism in the area.

Made Suandika revealed that this Christmas will be one of his busiest to date, with demand for glamping accommodation and travel experiences in Kintamani soaring.

Sunadika told reporters, “This month, our place is full, and there are also many other accommodations and glamping accommodations in Kintamani that have full rooms.”

He revealed that tourists are also spending longer up in the mountains too. He noted that the average stay is now 2-3 nights, rather than the single-night stays he has seen previously.

Tourists planning to visit Kintamani over the festive period are advised to book their accommodation as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Tourists mustn’t be put off by the rising popularity of Kintamani either.

The glamping sites and rustic guesthouses that surround the lake and the local communities are considerately located in such a way that everyone gets their own quiet and private views of the lake and volcanos.

According to Sundika tourists are most interested in the unique landscapes of Kintamani. It’s not every day that tourists get to sleep in the shadows of a volcano. On a clear day, views of Lake Batur are elevated by glimpses of sacred Mount Agung in the distance and Mount Abang just over the other side of the water.

The Hot Springs are also a huge draw for tourists to Kintamani. The Batur Natural Hot Spring is a must-visit in Bali.

The natural pools are thought to have healing properties thanks to the high mineral content. The natural hot pools are filled with water from the underground volcanic spring.

Many tourists choose to schedule a visit to the hot springs after hiking to the summit of Mount Batur for sunrise.

Despite threats of banning all activities on Bali’s mountains for both tourists and local people, tourists are still permitted to hike Mount Batur.

However, in light of the recent eruption of Mount Marapi in West Sumatra and ever-changing seismic activity across the province, tourists have been urged to keep time at the summit of Mount Agung to a minimum, on the advice of the Bali Natural Disaster Management Agency.

Tourists heading to Kintamani for an adventure on the volcanos will certainly need a day of rest and recovery during their vacation and Kintamani is just the place.

Not only can tourists kick back and relax in the gardens of their glamping sites or by the lakeside but there is an abundance of coffee shops and cafes to explore.

Kintamani is the undisputed coffee capital of Bali and as of 2023 is home to the biggest coffee shop in South East Asia.

The coffee shops of Kintamani all serve locally grown, harvested, and roasted coffee beans and offer unrivaled views of the majestic Mount Batur and the surrounding forested hills of Bangli Regency.
