Bali can proudly boast some of the best sunset spots in all of Asia. There is nothing quite like watching the sun dip below the horizon while sitting in the amphitheater of Uluwatu Temple as the mesmerizing fiery kecak dance is performed in front of your very eyes. But for the early risers, Bali has something very special in store indeed.
Waking up for sunrise while on vacation may not seem like the most relaxing way to spend your precious holiday hours, but it’s a time for rest and recuperation after all! But for those who want to set their alarms for daybreak, they will surely be rewarded, especially if staying in Sanur.
Sanur is Bali’s original coastal resort destination and while the area has undergone a huge transformation in the last three years and is ready to step into its new era as a world-class medical tourism destination, at its core Sanur is still a charming fishing village that boasts one of the most impressive sunrise views in all of Indonesia.

Over the coming months, Sanur will take on a whole other aesthetic as kite season is upon us. In July 2025, Sanur will host the International Kite Festival.
It is quite a sight to behold. The whole skyline over Sanur, and many parts of Bali, come alive with giant kite structures that are designed in all different shapes, sizes, and colors.
If you ever needed a chance to reconnect with your inner child and reacquaint yourself with the magic of the world, then a sunrise meditation on Sanur Beach, followed by kite watching or evening kite flying if you’re interested in joining in the fun, is surely the way to do it.
For a truly unique experience in Sanur, tourists should check what phase the moon will be in during their visit to Bali. Watching the moonrise over the ocean from the shorelines of Sanur is unforgettable, especially on a full moon.
The next full moon will fall on the 12th of May, the 11th of June, the 10th of July, and the 9th of August. While Sanur is perhaps the best coastal area in Bali to watch the sunrise, without a doubt, the most impressive place to see the sunrise in Bali is atop Mount Batur.
Sunrise treks to the summit of Mount Batur remain among the most popular bucket list activities in Bali, and for good reason.
On a clear day, the sunrise views from the volcano peak are utterly breathtaking. For those who don’t fancy the challenging hike to the summit, under the cover of darkness, then Mount Batur jeep sunrise tours are also available throughout the year.
Tourists are advised that it is mandatory to be accompanied by a guide when setting foot on any of Bali’s peaks, including Mount Batur.
