Fire Destroys 2 Hotel Buildings In Canggu Bali

A large fire destroyed two buildings of a Canggu hotel in Bali on Sunday September 27th.

According to the information from Badung Fire and Rescue Service Officer, I Wayan Wirya, the fire was discovered by the hotel’s security staff at the Tugu Hotel in Canggu at approximately 11.57 pm.

“We began to extinguish the fire at 12:05 am, and it took us 4 hours and 30  minutes with 5 fire trucks to finally put it out”, Wirya told reporters on Monday Sept 28th 2020.

“We were also cooperating with Bali Disaster Management Officer, National Eletricity Company and Police Officers on the scene” Wirya added.

The hotel assistant manager I Gusti Ngurah Ari Wijaya reported the incident to the officers. “The loss from the fire at the hotel is estimated at IDR 1,5 billion” Wijaya said.

The hotel is owned by a corporation in Malang, East Java called Tugu Respati Ltd.

Badung Head of Public Relations, Officer Iptu I Ketut Gede Oka Bawa has said that the cause of the incident is still under investigation. “We have no idea how this could have happened, our team is still investigating on the scene. We predicted that it’s because of the electrical short circuit” Oka said during the interview.

Hotel management said the fire has burnt down two buildings including a television, 3 air conditioners, a set of antique chairs, 3 antiques couches, refrigerators and other antique decor.
