128 packages of meth weighing 18 kgs have been seized by Bali police from two drug traffickers in Bali.
The Head of the Denpasar Police Department, AKBP Bambang Yugo Pamungkas, confirmed that a 25-year-old man named Muhamad Ansar and a 29-year-old man named Aulia Rahman were arrested along with a large amount of illegal drugs worth millions of dollars in Kuta on Saturday evening (19/2).
Both suspects were involved in an international drug syndicate from Malaysia. They were traced when a police officer had received information regarding an illegal drug transaction in Kuta.
“After conducting an investigation, our personnel managed to arrest both suspects in Kuta along with 1 kg of meth from the suspect’s bag,” AKBP Bambang said on Tuesday (22/2). They also managed to seize a larger amount of evidence from the suspect’s boarding house in Jalan Gelogor Carik, Denpasar.
17 kgs of meth and hundreds of ecstasy worth over USD $2 million (IDR 30 billion) were seized from the suspect’s place in Denpasar. “Both suspects admitted during the interrogation that they receive instructions from a man named Mawar from the Malaysian syndicate and Ferdi from Borneo,” AKBP Bambang added.
Meanwhile, the Head of Bali Narcotics Investigation Bureau, Kompol Losa Lusiano Araujo stated that the suspects had already sold 7 kgs of meth to consumers prior to the arrest.
“They also admitted that they had a total of 25 kgs of meth before the arrest. The investigation is still underway to see whether they told us the truth or not,” Kompol Losa concluded.
