A 38-year-old man from Jakarta was found dead in a hotel room on Monday evening (19/7).

The Head of the South Denpasar Police Department, AKP I Gede Sudyatmaja confirmed that the man was already dead when he was found on Monday evening around 8:30pm. He was found in his room at the Wisata Indah Hotel, located on Jalan Bedugul, Denpasar. “The man was confirmed to have died prior to being found in his hotel room.” AKP Sudyatmaja said on Tuesday (20/7).

According to information from one of the witnesses named I Nyoman Merta, he became suspicious when a delivery man came to the man’s hotel room on Monday afternoon. After a few minutes of knocking on the victim’s door, Merta decided to help the delivery man by peeking through a crack on his window and he saw the victim laying down on the floor. Shortly after, Merta and hotel staff broke the door down in attempts to rescue the man. After realizing that he was already dead, the witness immediately reported the incident to the police.

Few moments later, officials from the Denpasar Disaster Management Agency along with the police officer arrived at the scene and began their investigation.
“During our investigation we found several types of medicine in his room, so we suspect that the victim had died from his illness.” AKP Sudyatmaja concluded. The body was later transported to the Sanglah Public Hospital for further investigation as well as contacting the victim’s family.
