As BaliSpirit Festival 2023 comes to a close, organizers can take a well-earned rest and feel proud that, once again, the event has showcased the very best of Bali.
Thousands of attendees from all over the world arrived in Ubud to sing, dance, do yoga, heal, grow, and transform over the course of this overwhelmingly successful occasion.
It is the care and consideration that makes the festival an intimate occasion that, for so many, feels like a homecoming.
The jam-packed festival schedule itself features yoga teachers, artists, dancers, and healing modalities from around the world, yet at every opportunity, Balinese culture, heritage, and art is promoted.

Musical highlights over the weekend included the effervescent Hanuman Project, Venezuelan musical medicine man Jesús Hidalgo and in true Ubudian form, an ecstatic dance extravaganza from DJ DI.RHYTHM.
The Cacao Circle and African with Chokoalo drew huge crowds and high energy, while over in the yoga studios Acro Yoga with Hayden and Sheryl, as well as the Nervous System Rewire You with Tina Nance, had attendees lining up to secure their place on the mats.

Born from the visionary founder’s mission to revive tourism in Bali after the 2002 bomb attacks in Kuta and to create a space for human connection and healing, BaliSpirit Festival continues to play an undeniably impactful role in the island’s economy.
As the island steadily recovers from the impacts of the pandemic, the festival’s ethos has never been more important.
The festival had impressive targets for 2023, to bring in 8,000 attendees over the four-day festival, and to engage in over 150 workshops.
Over 40 local micro, small, and medium enterprises were engaged in the creation of the festival, from vendors to contractors, to accommodation and transportation partners and beyond.
It is estimated that the festival will generate IDR 28.4 billion for Ubud’s economy alone. This is all in addition to the long-standing community outreach and non-profit work the festival engages in throughout the year.

As the stage was being set for Sunday night’s music, festival founders Pak Kadek Gun, Megan Pappenheim, and Robert Webber (also known by his stage name Raio) addressed the audience to express their gratitude for all.
The media team has created a touching video montage, set to U2’s Beautiful Day, featuring photos of all of the festival staff, without whom the event would simply not have happened.
As Seed from Thursday Club said during their live DJ set, “Without the preset, the presence would not be possible,” as he too thanked the behind the scene team who ran the whole show.
Thanks must be given to all the local Balinese team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
From the tickets checkers to the parking team, waste collectors (the site was always immaculate), mandala flower arrangers, festival runners, yoga mat cleaners, visitor information teams, media liaisons, cacao makers, stage setters, lighting, sound, local artists, artisans, the arts and crafts for kids supervisor and so many more.
Pappenheim also gave a heartfelt speech in thanks to her long-term assistant and right-hand woman, Indra, who tragically passed away last year.
The festival’s theme for 2023 was gratitude, and Pappenheim dedicated the event to Indra’s memory.
As the 14th BaliSpirit Festival comes to a close, the team is already looking ahead to next year. Rumors of the festival are being held on a bigger site, with more artists, workshops, vendors, and tickers for sale.
