Couple Plunges Into Ravine In Bali

A couple has plunged into a ravine while riding a motorbike in Serongga Village on Wednesday evening (13/4).

The Head of Gianyar Police Department, Kompol Gede Putra Astawa, confirmed that a couple identified as a 40-year-old man named I Made Nuryana and a 40-year-old woman named Ni Komang Eniyati have plunged into a ravine due to a brake failure.

“The couple plunged into a 10-meter ravine while riding their motorbike on Wednesday at 6:00 pm,” Kompol Astawa said.

The couple was on their way home to Cebaang Asir Housing Complex in Serongga Village, Gianyar. Just before reaching home, Nuryana lost control over his vehicle due to a brake failure then plunged into a ravine.

After receiving a report concerning the incident, Gianyar Disaster Management Office immediately deployed its team to begin an evacuation. “Nuryana suffered a back injury, while his wife suffered a bone fracture on her arm,” Astawa added.

Although the evacuation process was a bit difficult due to the steep terrain, the victims and the vehicle were evacuated to a safe place by 7:35 pm.

“The victims were immediately transported to Sanjiwani Public Hospital in Gianyar to receive medical attention,” Astawa concluded.
