Officials in Bali have confirmed that construction will begin on the new Paramount Theme Park in August.
The project has been in the pipeline for years, but now officials have been able to reveal a few more details about what is set to become the largest theme park in Bali.
Construction on the long-awaited Paramount Theme Park will begin in Jembrana Regency next month. Jembrana Regency is the westernmost regency in Bali, spanning from Gilimanuk Harbor, which connects Bali to East Java, through to Tabanan Regency in the heart of the island.
The Regent of Jembrana, I Nengah Tamba, has revealed that the theme park will be named Taman Kerti Bali Semesta (TKBS), which in English translates to mean Universal Park & Gardens Bali.
Interestingly, despite being a Paramount Pictures park, the new theme park is being referred to locally as “Disneylandnya.’

The theme park will be built over 600 hectares of land which is owned but eh Bali Regional Company. Regent Tamba has said he is excited about the impact the park will have on tourism in the little-visited region of Jembrana.
He explained, “With funds of IDR 14 trillion, this theme park is expected to boost the tourism sector in Jembrana. So we really hope that everything goes according to plan.”
Little more details about the specifics of the new theme park have been revealed, and it seems that a wise strategy to keep anticipation building.
But as construction progresses, no doubt all those involved in the project will be keen to keep the hype going.

The project is being led by PT Kios Ria Kerasi, an Indonesian technology, tourism, and entertainment company.
The company signed an agreement with Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles last year to give the final go-ahead for the project.
When the agreement was signed in LA, the managing director of Kios Ria Kreasi, Ade Sulistioputra, said that the theme park would be a fun day out for visitors of all ages, not just for young children.
Sulistioputra revealed, “We will tap into a library of over 1,000 films and use brands and characters that will appeal to people of all ages.”

Adding “other attractions may draw on Nickelodeon’s characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
The construction of the park is happening alongside other huge development projects in Bali.
The Universal Park & Gardens Bali will be strategically located along the Gilimanuk-Mengewi Toll Road, which is currently under construction.
Both the development of the toll road and the theme park are examples of the provincial government’s mission to distribute more tourism development away from the southern beach resorts of Badung Regency, like Kuta, Seminyak, Legian, Canggu, Nusa Dua, and Uluwatu.
It is clear that Universal Park & Gardens Bali will be the biggest, flashiest theme park in Bali, but it will be a little while longer before tourists can add a visit to their travel itineraries.
In the meantime, however, tourists to Bali have more than enough choices when it comes to having a super fun family day out in Bali.
The most popular theme park in Bali right now is the famous Waterbom in central Kuta.
The much-loved water park is the highlight of many annual visitor’s holidays in Bali. The park is open from 9am until 6pm every day of the week.
With so much to explore, visitors stay open until close to max out on fun in the sun.
Waterbom boasts 22 slides and rides, each with its own intensity rating. Mellow rides include the lazy river tube flow or the Funtastic kid’s pool.
For those wanting to test their adrenaline boundaries, the moderate slides are a great starting point; Superbowl slide is all kinds of fun. To take things to the next level, be sure to try out Green Vipers, the Boomerang or the Pipeline.

Bali is running out of white elephants and pink pigs. I was trying to think of more appropriate comment, but couldn't.... A bloody stupid idea.
Where are the customers going to come from? Local Jembrana people don't have, and won't spend enough to make it viable.
Traffic on the, if it ever happens, Gilimanuk tollway aren't going to divert for a hot dog and to say hello to Sponge Bob.
These places rely on families. Can you really see Mum, Dad and a couple of kids making 5/6 hour return trip from the south to ride a big ferris wheel? What else is there to do there? Bugger all.

Bali has never been a theme park destination. It will be interesting to see the transition from senior stoners and drunks to family tourism. Will the 'influencers' want to flash thier junk with Dora and Mickey? Will it cool enough for the 'kids'? Personally I think Bali and Indonesia generally is too remote for a family experiance. 15 hrs from Europe and North America. Disney Parks internationally have never been popular with Russians. The flight cost for a family of six will be exorbitant. Good luck, but I think someone is over reaching and leaving well enough alone.
