The newly opened Magic Garden in Bali’s Nuanu City in Tabanan Regency is the perfect family-friendly day out this festive season.
The tourist nature park, which spans over 3,600m², was officially opened to the public last week on National Tree Planting Day.
The first tourists to visit Magic Garden have been blown away by the size, scale, and sheer abundance of flora at the park.
With entry tickets costing just IDR 150,000, a visit to Magic Garden is a budget-friendly and hugely inspiring day trip idea that should be added to the itinerary this December.
Speaking to reporters, the Head of the Magic Garden at Nuanu, Audria Evelinn, explained, “We hope Magic Garden will be an example of how humans can harmonize with nature through sustainable preservation.”
Evelinn continued, “Magic Garden is an immersive garden design to preserve and celebrate the biodiversity of Nuanu and Bali. Magic Garden is expected to be a space for visitors to learn to connect with nature in a meaningful way.”
She explained how the site had been created to help promote the natural beauty and abundance of Bali while highlighting to visitors the importance of maintaining ecosystem balance.
As well as being a fun day out for all the family, Magic Garden will also be a site for research, education programs, and a center for nature conservation in Bali and around the world.
Evelinn shared, “We always prioritize taking sides towards nature. One of our missions is to innovate and find ways for environmental development and conservation to run synergistically.”
“We want to ensure that development does not damage, but instead contributes to environmental preservation.”
Adding, “In this Magic Garden, we are also committed to 70 percent of the area remaining green, with only 30 percent to be built, as part of our commitment to nature conservation.”
Evelinn revealed that part of the future plan at Magic Garden in Nuanu City will be to present Biota Lab, a research facility that explores the relationship between species in the ecosystem as well as Pollinator’s Jewel, a special area dedicated to pollinators such as butterflies and bees and their role in supporting biodiversity.
In the Butterfly Garden, she shared, “By being in this garden, tourists can learn about the life cycle and the important role of butterflies as pollinators, as well as indicators of the health of an ecosystem.”
Data collected from the site shows that the survival rate of butterflies and dragonflies in the area has increased by 20% since the Magic Garden was developed.
The Botanical Gallery is perhaps the most impressive area of the garden, especially for those interested in native plants of Indonesia and botany more broadly.
The Gallery is home to over 400 rare and exotic plants, ethically sourced and under the guidance of supporting conservation authorities.
Nuanu City has also employed the Miyawaki Method to plant more than 15,000 trees across the site.
Evelinn explained, “By combining the paludarium ecosystem and aesthetic beauty, this gallery offers a harmonious experience between natural conservation and education.”
The Orchid Garden is truly a sight to behold. Home to 500 different species of rich, this highly photogenic and ethereal feeling space encapsulates the magic of mother nature. Many of the orchids are native to Bali, making Magic Garden one of the finest plant collections in the province.
Nuanu City is a day and night, out in its own right. Now home to the Magic Garden, visitors can couple a visit to the nature conservation center with a visit to the newly opened The Dome, an immersive and interactive 360-degree audio-visual spectacle that can also be found at Nuanu.
The Dome is intended to help bring together Bali’s cultural and natural landscape, offering visitors a chance to feel close to nature and the island’s cultural heritage through the range of immersive perfumes and experiences, including the live show, The Bali Mystic.
Nuanu City is also home to Luna Beach Club and 8-in-1 entertainment venue that overlooks the stunning Pantai Nyanyi.
