The Bali Trade Office has instructed all shops across the island to stop displaying and selling Kinder Joy.
The Trade Office received a memo from PT. Ferrero Confectionary Indonesia, the factory that produced Kinder Joy Snacks, instructing the withdrawal of all their products from shops and outlets in Indonesia.
In response to this, the Head of Karangasem Trade Office and Micro Business Union, I Made Loka Santika, began an operation to ensure that all the shops across the region have stopped displaying the products.
“Since we received notification from the central government regarding this memo, we started inspecting both modern and traditional shops and markets across the region to assure their compliance,” Santika said.
Santika observed that most of the shops have stopped selling the products that used to be displayed near the cashier booth. However, he admitted that a few shops were still spotted displaying the snacks.
“We seized all the Kinder Joy products that were in display,” Santika added.
The factory was sanctioned by the central government after the National Food and Drug Administration found Salmonella bacteria in their products. They were then instructed to withdraw all their products from the Indonesian market. Santika will regularly conduct similar operations to avoid violations in his area.
