Bali Tourists Must Secure Hotel Bookings Ahead Of Eid al-Fitr

Bali is a majority Balinese Hindu island, and Indonesia is the most populous Muslim nation in the world.

With the Eid al-Fitr holiday coming up, the demand for domestic tourists to travel to Bali will soar.

With this in mind, tourists who want to book specific activities, hotels, and restaurants during the festival should do so as soon as possible.

Tourism officials in Nusa Dua have confirmed that bookings are soaring as the holiday approaches.

They are encouraging all tourists to book their accommodation and tourism activities as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

In 2024 Eid al-Fitr, the holy day that marks the end of Ramadan will start on the evening of the 9th April and into the 10th April.

The holiday of Hari Raya Idul Fitri, which is also known as Lebaran, will run from Tuesday 9th until Monday 15th April.

During this time millions of Indonesian families will travel domestically to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr festival.

During this time, many businesses across the country close their doors as employees travel home to spend time with their families, many going on their annual vacations.

Muslims in Indonesia celebrate Hari Raya Idul Fitri with a large feast, attending prayers and spending time with family and community. Muslims account for around 10% of the population in Bali.

Many domestic tourists will arrive in Bali at the Gilimanuk Harbour, having traveled by ferry from Ketapang in East Java.

Traffic officers are predicting peak traffic flow to be on the weekend of 6th-7th April and 13th-14th April. Everyone in Bali should be braced for more traffic on the roads and allow for extra time to get from A to B, especially in busy tourist areas.

During the holiday period, tourists can expect to see hotel rates increase as demand for rooms soars. For much of the year, tourists can wait until the very last minute to book hotel rooms to get super cheap rates.

This option works well for tourists who do not have their heart set on specific hotels rather a resort area in particular. If tourists have their heart set on a specific hotel its always best to book ASAP!

Tourists planning to be in Bali between 9th – 15th April it’s time to get booking. The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) predict that hotel occupancy will reach 80% in top resort areas along the southern coast.

The PHRI Secretary, Perry Markus, told reporters, “The opportunity for occupancy to increase during the Eid holidays is 20-30% from the current average occupancy of 50-60%.”

He added “if there is a lot of empty rooms the price is usually relatively cheap. When there is a lot of demand the price also adjusts, that’s the price dynamics.”

For savvy travelers, however, the Eid al-Fitr holidays can also be a chance to snap up incredible deals.

With all hotels and resorts wanting to make the most of the huge influx of tourists, all the most popular hotels on the island are promoting Eid al-Fitr packages with great value.

It is well worth taking a scroll through the hotel search engines to find an all-inclusive or even half-board deal that ticks all the right boxes for a last minute getaway in Bali.

Tourists in Bali over the holiday period should also be aware that demand for fast boats and ferries between Bali, the Nusa Islands, the Gili Islands and Lombok will soar.

Anyone planning to make the crossing from Bali to the outlying islands, whether as a day trip or overnight stay, show book as a far in advance as possible to secure tickets and navigate around rising prices.

Idul Fitri,

Bali is a hindu majority island, but foreign tourists might not realize that >25% of Denpasar and >15% of Badung are muslims. A significant shift over the last 50 years as the island turned into a tourist economy.
