The Indonesian Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economies has announced that it will be launching a new centralized digital tourism information center on the 14th of October, 2024.

The platform, known as the Digital Nusantara Tourist Information Center, will help tourists access all the information they need about traveling throughout the country, including Bali Province, all in one place.

At present, the closest available platform for tourists seeking online information about travel and tourism from the Indonesian government or the Indonesian Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economies is the Wonderful Indonesia website.

As the national tourism board, the Wonderful Indonesia site has sections highlighting destinations such as Bali, Lake Toba, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Raja Ampat, Jakarta, and more.

The site features sections on e-visas and general travel information, though many of the pages haven’t been updated since 2021, and much of the content reflects travel in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic.

The new platform that will be launched by the Indonesian Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economies is an initiative personally directed by Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno.

In a press statement, Dwi Marhen Yono, Director of Tourism Marketing of the Archipelago of the Ministry of Tourism, explained, “With TIC Digital Nusantara, traveling will be easier and more fun. Tourists can get complete and safe information.”

The TIC Digital Nusantara platform will be a technology-based tourism information center that makes it easier for tourists to plan their trips more freely.

By simply scanning the barcode, tourists can access a wealth of information ranging from tourist attractions, accommodation, and transportation to other services.

Yono added, “We want to pamper tourists with complete and easily accessible information. Hopefully, this will have a positive impact on all elements of tourism in Indonesia.”

The Ministry has not yet outlined how the TIC Digital Nusantara platform will intersect with Wonderful Indonesia, but as the launch of the new site is just around the corner, more press statements and updates from the Ministry will be revealed in due course.

The creation of the TIC Digital Nusantara platform is all part of a government-wide commitment to level up digital infrastructure, ranging from improving the speed, efficiency, and digitalization of immigration services to improving connectivity and internet speeds. For tourists, it is now quicker and easier than ever to access Indonesia’s top destinations like Bali.

Tourists are now able to seamlessly acquire their eVisa on Arrival prior to touching down in Bali and are able to move through the arrivals process at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport with ease thanks to the installation of a series of new autogates.

The new autogates at both the arrivals and departure terminals allow travelers to complete standard immigration checks in just 15-20 seconds. For those who don’t feel comfortable using the autogate or need more support, staffed immigration counters are always open, too.

As Bali becomes ever busier with tourists and travelers, Indonesia is seeking more innovative and impactful ways to encourage visitors to explore more of what the archipelago has to offer and to use Bali as a gateway to further adventure.

Back in September, Minister Uno confirmed that a new policy is in the process of being drawn up by Minister for Investment Luhur Bisan Pandjaitan to help control the prices of domestic flights in Indonesia; a policy that will benefit a whole host of different trailer demographics, including international holidaymakers to Bali.

Minister Uno revealed, “Minister Luhut is addressing the cost of airline tickets intending to announce breakthrough measures before the change of the Presidential Cabinet and the swearing in of the next government.”

Overall, leaders are looking to cut domestic airfares by at least 10%; this is set to be achieved by slashing cutting VAT, cutting import tax on aviation equipment, and reducing the cost of aviation fuel.
