The Badung Police Department has seized several customized motorbikes with loud exhaust during their operation last weekend. The Head of Badung Traffic, Officer AKP Aan Saputra said that six motorbikes were seized during the operation on Saturday evening (10/4).
“We gave them tickets for violating the traffic rules by customizing their exhaust pipe that made a super loud noise on public roads. We also detained their motorbikes in Badung Police Department Office as evidence,” AKP Saputra said Sunday.
Apart from the penalty, officers also told them to remove their exhaust pipe and hang them in front of the Badung Police Department Office to display them next to their seized vehicles. “We have to give a deterrent effect to those people, because other than violating the traffic rules, the noise was so annoying for other people,” AKP Saputra added.
Saputra explained that all those vehicles are temporarily seized by police while waiting for the decision from judges at the court. He also admitted that street racing also became more popular during the pandemic, as many people who were a majority of underage kids took advantage of the empty roads.
Badung Police will continue their operation to keep inspecting the areas where street racing usually takes place in the evening.
