An official from the Klungkung Regional Government has taken down all cigarette advertisements in the shops and markets under his jurisdiction.
The Regent of the Klungkung regional government, I Nyoman Suwirta, confirmed that he personally removed all cigarette advertisements he came across during his inspection in Selat Village, Klungkung on Thursday (6/1).
Suwirta himself initiated this operation as he had heard that many local shops in Klungkung still neglected the regional policy that bans all cigarette advertisements.
Following the Regional Policy Number 1 Year 2014 and the Regent’s Decree Number 22 Year 2017 about Smoking-Free Areas, Klungkung has announced itself as a region that is free from smoking.
“During my inspection, I still found many cigarette advertisements that could encourage young people to start smoking,” Suwirta said.
Suwirta also warned all cigarette distributors to stop installing their advertisement posters in public areas, including all the shops in Klungkung.
“I’ve already instructed the village officials in my region to inspect and dismantle all cigarette advertisements regularly,” he concluded.

@Wayan Bo, Cigarettes do kill people …. FACT !! Indonesia is so far behind in education about this. It’s not just the smokers but other around them that are exposed to this. Even if you do not care about your own health , please respect the health of your family and other people around you🙏🏻
