Bali Named Top Wedding Destination In 2024

Bali has been named one of the top wedding destinations in the world in 2024.

According to a survey conducted by Bounce, the Island of the Gods remains as dreamy as ever for couples wishing to tie the knot in paradise. 

Narrowly missing out on the top spot to Lake Como in Tuscany, Italy, Bali came in a respectably second place with a ranking of 8.9/10. Bounce.

Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno has long been vocal about his intention to market Bali as a top wedding destination. It is easy to see why.

Not only is Bali already lodged in the collective psyche of wedding planners as an iconic destination, but the island is incredibly well set up to deliver stunning destination weddings to suit every budget and style.

Minister Uno is particularly interested in promoting Bali as a wedding destination for Indian tourists.

Over 1.3 million posts have been published on Instagram using #BaliWedding, and plenty of inspiration is available online to help couples plan their dream day.

Speaking to reporters, Minister Uno explained, “Indian couples who got married in Bali said that Bali was attractive not only for its scenery and culture, but the most important thing was that getting married in Bali was cheaper for them.”

He said that with big weddings in India welcoming up to 5,000 people, Bali offers couples the opportunity to host a wedding party that suits their budget, their guests, and their personal tastes.

Minister Uno added, “The Indian couples who got married in Indonesia are some of the Indian tourists who in the 2023 period recorded the second highest number of visits to Bali after tourists from Australia.”

Perhaps what makes planning a wedding in Bali so appealing, aside from the dreamy destination, exceptional hospitality, and affordability, is the range of all-in-one wedding packages on offer.

Packages usually include venue hire, accommodation, event planning, wedding meals, and evening entertainment. 

According to Australia’s Real Weddings, the best wedding venues in Bali can be found both on and off the beaten track.

Hotels and resorts like Cicada Luxury Resort Ubud, Alila Villas Uluwatu, Grand Hyatt Bali, and Kayumanis Villas have all been listed as the most in-demand wedding venues in Bali in 2024.

For couples seeking a destination wedding with a difference, the community of Pelaga Village has recently made their Nungnung Waterfall available for wedding ceremonies.

Located 34km outside of Ubud the stunning waterfall is the perfect location for an intimate, nature-inspired wedding ceremony that also helps support a local Balinese community. 

In an interview with reporters, Sang Nyoman Sutena, 60, Head of the Nungnung Traditional Village, said that he and his community want to invest more in making the area attractive to couples.

He wants to use Nungnung Waterfall as a destination for couples who want to include elements of Balinese culture in their destination wedding. 

Sutena explains, “Culturally, we are planning for developments, for example, like weddings. We want to package it with the location; there will be dances, there will be rink [music], etc.”

He confirmed that couples are encouraged to conduct nuptials at the waterfall in alignment with their own culture but that couples can arrange traditional Balinese blessings to be conducted after their vows, though not traditional Balinese-Hindu wedding ceremonies.

Couples from Spain, South Korea, and Russia have already chosen Nungnung Waterfall as the location for their ceremony.

With hotels and resorts like Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape, and Adiwana Dara Ayu a short distance away, couples can stay and celebrate their union in a tropical paradise with ease.
