Bali Named No.1 Travel Destination In The World For 2026 By TripAdvisor

Bali has once again been named in the Best of the Best Tourism Destinations in the world by TripAdvisor.

Here at The Bali Sun, we know that Bali deserves to be in the top spot year after year, but it is fantastic to see that real travellers are also still just as excited about travel on the island in 2026. 

Bali has been listed as the number one travel destination in the world by TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Destinations award.

The online travel site shared “The Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.”

Bali has been listed in the top spot, beating some seriously big destinations along the way. In second place, London takes a proud place in the top three, followed by Dubai. The top five best destinations in the world include Hanoi in fourth place, followed by Paris. The top ten have been completed by Rome, Marrakech, Bangkok, Crete, and New York City. 

TripAdvisor is singing the praises of Bali right now, and rightly so. The platform shared |Bali packs a lot into one small island— from breathtaking waterfalls like Sekumpul in the north to the white sand beaches of Nyang Nyang in the south.”

Adding “Whatever you’re seeking, you’ll probably find: surfable waves in Batu Bolong, all-night clubs in Seminyak, luxury clifftop hotels in Nusa Dua, and spiritual refuges all around. Snap a pic at the Gateway to Heaven, cut through the jungle to the hidden Gunung Kawi Temple, and catch the sunset and a traditional fire dance at Uluwatu Temple.”

Bali is on a mission to welcome even more tourists in 2026, and this award from TripAdvisor will help boost interest in travel to the region for years to come. Bali is a multi-award-winning destination and consistently receives international acclaim for its travel and tourism sector. It is not only Bali as a province that welcomes awards, but tourism villages, hotels, villas, and attractions too.

At the end of 2025, Bali’s Pemuteran Village in Buleleng Regency in the north of the province received the UN World Tourism Organisation’s World’s Best Tourism Village Award. Speaking to reporters in light of the win, the Head of the Bueleng Tourism Office, Gede Dody Sukma Oktiva Askara, praised Pemuteran Village for the huge amount of hard work that went into winning the award.

He shared, “This award is expected to increase tourist visits, while also positively impacting the economy, culture, and environmental preservation.

Emerging tourism destinations, such as Bali, have also highlighted by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism through the 2025 Wonderful Indonesia Awards. During the awards ceremony hosted in early December, Bali’s Karangasem Regency had plenty of reason to celebrate with a landmark win for the incredible Samsara Living Museum, which won second place in the Best National Tourist Attractions category.

TripAdvisor highlighted the world-famous Kelingking Beach in Nusa Dua as one of the best activities in Bali in 2026, followed by Tanah Lot Temple and Mount Batur. All of these get The Bali Sun seal of approval as unmissable attractions in Bali this year.

A visit to Kelingking Beach is possible in a day trip from Bali; however, we love spending as much time as possible over on Nusa Penida, and much prefer to spend a couple of days on the island, visiting other top destinations, including Diamond Beach and taking a dive in Manta Bay. 

Similarly, we love transforming a visit to Tanah Lot Temple into a full-day trip across the best cultural heritage sites Tabanan Regency has to offer. This means starting at sunrise in Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, before heading south to Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest, and finishing in the late afternoon and sunset in Tanah Lot. 

Mount Batur is, of course, one of Bali’s leading outdoor activities, and something tourists always overlook is the option to stay a few nights in Kintamani.

With glamping camps all along the banks of Lake Batur, it is a shame not to make the most of what this stunning area of Bali has to offer.
