Bali Makes It Easier For Tourists To Ship Souvenirs Home

Share The Article

We’ve all been there: the final day of a vacation involves cramming stuff into a suitcase, jumping on top of it to help squeeze the zips closed, only to admit that some things may just have to stay behind.

For tourists traveling home from Bali, this is an all-too-real dilemma, but things are about to change.

It is now easier and more affordable than ever to ship souvenirs and purchase a home in Bali. This not only means tourists can travel lighter, but more importantly, have to hold back when spending.

No need to have to decide between this wooden carving or that, or having to choose between which color sarong to buy…buy them all! This is because Lion Parcel, part of Lion Air, is now making it super easy to ship parcels from Bali to destinations around the world.

Speaking to reporters, the PR & Corporate Communication Lion Parcel, Firda Fitri Agustin, revealed that the demand for Bali shipping to major cities in Indonesia and abroad is soaring. Augustin noted that the items that are sent are generally accessories and clothes. He shared “Bali produces packages dominated by accessories, personal items, trinkets, kebaya, and clothes.”

Top international destinations for parcels sent from Bali include Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia. Agustin referred to travel figures for Bali that show that 6.4 million international tourists visited the island in 2024, and this figure is set to rise by the end of 2025. Lion Parcel is working to create a system whereby it becomes normalized for tourists to ship their souvenirs and vacation purchases home, rather than hauling them on their flight.

Tourists can expect to see more Lion Parcel outlets opening up across Bali. At the moment, Agustin oversees 100 parcel posting points across Bali, but as the company grows, the system also offers business opportunities for local people.

Agustin revealed that prospective Lion Air parcel agents need to invest an initial capital of around IDR 10 million, most of which can be returned as a balance and branding assets.

Agents will receive a commission of 35% from the shipping cost, which could be very lucrative for many savvy entrepreneurs in Bali. This model could certainly be snapped up by small grocery store owners, coffee shops, and more.

Agustin told reporters “We are still opening opportunities for the opening of new agents, especially to cover areas such as Karangasem and Singaraja, in addition to Badung and Gianyar which have been centralized.”

Ubud Market Stall Vendor Bali

Tourists who are looking to ship their shopping back home can coordinate postage really easily. The best way to find the closest Lion Parcel outlet is to head to the Lion Parcel website and translate the page to English.

In the ‘agent location’ section, tourists can search for their nearest outlet. However, be sure to search for specific sub-districts or regencies. For example, searching for ‘Canggu’ will not yield results despite there being plenty of outlets in the area; search instead for Badung, or more specifically, Mengwi or Dalung.

To make things even easier, Lion Parcel offers a pick-up service to save tourists the hassle of visiting the drop-off outlet in person. This service is offered free of charge.

There will be paperwork to print to support the international postage, but most accommodation providers will be able to help with this, and there are many small print shops located across all of Bali’s most popular tourist resorts.

Lion Air Plane Close Up

The only question that remains is where will you go shopping? Will you be heading straight to Ubud Art Market to find some classic Balinese crafts, or popping down to Uluwatu to scour the surf shops and boutiques for some new threads?

Your reporter on the lion Parcel story failed to ask whether the Lion Parcel service , so useful for tourists , has an English language option. I hope their shipping service is better planned than their marketing.

@Exp,

I've had no problems. Maybe it come down to choice of carrier and agent.
