Many Bali hotels are offering special rates up to 50% to welcome the international travelers who have started coming back to the island.

The Head of Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association for Badung, I Gusti Agung Ngurah Rai Suryawijaya, confirmed that many 3 to 5-star hotels in Bali are offering special rates to welcome the international travelers who have started coming back to the island.
“Many of our hotels in Bali are offering 50 percent discounts to attract more visitors to the island,” Suryawijaya said on Friday (8/4) in Sanur.
Suryawijaya said that the hotel occupancy in Bali has started to increase since the quarantine policy was dropped and the visa on arrival program resumed.
“This is awesome! We are seeing more international visitors now and the hotel occupancy has increased by 25 percent,” Suryawijaya added. He was also optimistic about the fact that Bali Airport is expected to receive more international flights this month.
10 international airlines have resumed their international routes with Bali, and Bali Airport is expected to receive 9 more airlines soon.
“We have been receiving 2,000 international visitors each day, and I’m optimistic that the number will keep increasing this month. This will help our tourism sector and economy recover by 2023,” Suryawijaya concluded.

@Leonard, the boycott would have anything to do with a proposed highway??? This project will be built along the cliffs and passing through padang padang beach and surfers's secret hideout. Actually a major short cut to reach to the other side of the island with tourist spots.

@Leonard, the only reason you are thinking of boycotting an infrastructure needed is to avoid for the world to uncover the secret of surfer's hideout. We aren't that naive.
What does all this illustrate? That greed and stupidity cross all cultural boundaries. Generally speaking people do not care about the sheet show they leave behind. Remember that boomers were hippies and look what they have become now.

Are the beaches still piled high with garbage? I always thought that May was the start of the “Safe Season” when the locals had removed most of the up-country garbage deluge. See you then maybe, but not before.

@J West, the beaches that I have seen are cleaner since I was there last week. Well except those shameful dog owners who walk or let their dogs wander about and NOT pick up afterwards.

Discount of 50% is still to modest, especially for places such Puri Bali Hotel in Jimbaran where cottage in 1980’s was priced with US $ 7 a night and the same cottage today is far over $ 200 a night.

You really need to replace your current cadre of politicians; they are clueless.
All they need to do is remove all mandates and then promote that Bali is 100% back to normal. They crow about 2,000 visitors a day (compared to 15,000-17,000 pre-shutdown) and really expect it to get back to normal by 2023 under these conditions?
Also, Bali is getting a lot of bad press lately when it comes to crime; from drug use to Russians & Ukrainians taking over some sections of the island. You can forget drawing tourists looking for the old Bali at the rate this is going.

@Michael,heard through the grapevine that folks in Bali aren't too happy with the situation that you mentioned about Russians settling in some parts of the island. Assimilation is very important! The same applies when other foreigners settle in the West, assimilation and respect for the local culture, language and tradition is a must.
