The governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster, says the island is well prepared and equipped to receive international tourists again.

The Governor praised villages in Bali for their effectiveness in facing Covid-19.

Koster acknowledged that traditional village security and their implementation of strict customary regulations for their resident has helped control the spread of the virus.

The villages’ continued efforts to enforce health and safety protocols reflect on a provincial scale.

“Compared to other provinces in Indonesia, Bali has best tackled Covid-19  due to the obedience of our people” said Koster as he welcomed The Australian Ambassador for Indonesia, Johannes Peterlik, at the official Governor’s Residence on Friday (27/11).

During the meeting, Koster addressed the pandemic’s grave impact on the Balinese economy as the tourism sector had been paralized since the outbreak.

“We’ve had zero tourism since March due to policies against international travel.

Now it’s slightly getting better, we have opened our border to domestic tourists. We expect to welcome more visitors for the year-end holiday this December” Koster added.

The Governor is anticipating updates from the Central Government to revoke the travel bans that have been in place since March.

He confirmed that Bali is ready to receive international visitors once the borders reopens as aviation policies and safety protocols are in place.
