Bali Governor I Wayan Koster has admitted that the cancelation of the G-20 event in Bali was caused by the current quarantine policy.
Koster explained that the G-20 event called ‘Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting (FCBD) 2 and Finance Minister and Central Bank (FMCBG)’ scheduled to be held in Bali from February 15th to 18th 2022 had been officially canceled.
The central government decided to move the event to Jakarta for an easier meeting process.
The cancelation was initiated as the delegations of the G-20 conference are required to undergo quarantine in Jakarta. “The government initiated this so all attendees of the G-20 can have easier access to the venue once they finish their quarantine in Jakarta,” Koste said on Thursday (21/1).
The majority of attendees agreed upon the cancelation in an effort to reduce the risk of Omicron transmission.
However, the central government, through the Ministry of Finance, ensured that Bali would still be the main venue for the G-20 events to be held in October 2022.
“The Minister of Finance’s decision to move this one event to Jakarta is understandable. Nonetheless, Bali will still be the main venue for the other G-20 events on October 2022,” Koster concluded.
