An American national has been rescued after he fell from his boat on Serangan Beach on Monday afternoon (27/12).
The Head of the Bali Search and Rescue (Basarnas), Gede Darmada, confirmed that an American national named Geofry (aged 50) was finally found and rescued after going missing for several hours on Serangan Beach.
The victim was found in an area far from where he had fallen. Surprisingly, he was still alive when he was found later in the evening, after hours of going missing on Monday afternoon.
“We received a report of the incident at 5:40 pm, and we immediately deployed 10 personnel for the rescue operation,” Darmada said on Tuesday (28/12).
According to the witness, the incident occurred when the victim sailed out with his friend on Monday afternoon. Geofry lost his balance as the sea got rough, causing him to fall into the ocean. His friend attempted to search for him at first but then decided to report the incident to the authorities as he was unable to find Geofry.
After several hours of searching without any result, authorities from Basarnas were informed that Geofry was found by local fishermen around the Kusamba coastal area in Klungkung at 7:30 pm. Shortly after, the victim was rushed to the hospital to receive medical attention.
Other institutions such as the Coastal Police Guard and military officers were also involved in the rescue mission.
