The Head of Emergency and Logistics from Gianyar Regional Disaster Management (BPBD), Gusti Ngurah Dibya Presasta, confirmed that a tree collapsed due to bad weather. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon (12/1), damaging two parked cars.

“The incident was caused by the extreme weather over the last few days,” Presasta said.

The fallen tree damaged two cars: a Toyota Fortuner and a Daihatsu Ayla that belonged to expats Alex and Alisia, respectively.

The tree was 80cm in diameter and 25m in height. It collapsed at 1:44 pm due to heavy rain.

Once the logs were moved to a safer place, the authorities went on to clear other collapsed trees around the Tegalalang area.

“We were informed that three more trees collapsed in Banjar Pejengaji Tegalalang, so we rushed to that location afterwards,” Presasta added. He was grateful that nobody was injured from the incident.
