A Bali Student Has Died During His Celebratory Graduation Convoy

An 18-year-old student has died after colliding with a truck during a motorbike convoy to celebrate his graduation from high school in Klungkung.

The Head of the Klungkung Traffic Accident Police Officer, Ipda IB Ketut Wardana confirmed that the incident occurred on Jalan Raya Gunaksa, Klungkung on Thursday afternoon (2/6) around 2:45pm. “A teenager who just graduated from high school has died after colliding with another vehicle while on a motorbike convoy with his friends on Thursday afternoon.” Ipda Wardana said.

According to information from the witness, prior to the incident the victim was on a motorbike convoy with some of his friends right after the school announced their graduation through email. The Head of the Klungkung Public High School 1, I Wayan Siarsana explained that he has warned all his students to avoid creating a crowd such as a convoy to celebrate their graduation during the pandemic. 

“We have warned all the students to avoid creating a crowd by celebrating on the streets, that’s why we decided to announce their graduation by email. So I never imagined that things could turn for the worst like this.” Siarsana said. The student died on the spot from a severe head injury after colliding with a truck that was driven by a 43-year-old man from Klungkung.
