13 college students from Warmadewa University Denpasar were trapped while enjoying Suluban Beach over the weekend in Uluwatu due to high tide.
The incident occured when they came to the beach on Saturday afternoon Nov 14th 2020 at around 4:00 pm.
As the tide was came in around the rocky beach area that they were hanging out at around 7:30 pm, the group realized they were trapped and unable to return to the entrance they came from.

According to information from The Head of Denpasar Search and Rescue (SAR) Team, Gede Darmada, he said that his office has received a report regarding the incident 30 minutes later, and he immediately deployed 8 SAR officers on the mission.
The officers arrived at the location at around 09:45 pm and began to cooperate with Badung Tourism Office to begin the evacuation.
The team had a difficult time to reach the location through the rocks as the tide was still too high. To minimize the risk, they decided to wait until the tide went down.

The tide was finally getting lower at around 12:20 am, so the team have finally evacuated all of student and sent them home to their families.
The students were identified as Anggi Ritania (19), Tri Permana (20), Putri Budiantari (20), Ayu Suciningsih (19), Dhea Shavira (19), Puspa Meitriyana (19), Nia Krisna (19), Anandita (19), Aprilia (19), Ayu (20), Tami (19), Bagus (19) and Jaya (19).
“I suggested to all the people to be more careful if they want to interact with the nature, and to avoid any activity on the beach at night time because the risk is getting higher when the visibility is low” Darmada concluded.
