A large fire sent two residents to hospital and destroyed two homes in Denpasar on Thursday.
The fire occurred at around 2:30 pm on Jalan Kusuma Bangsa V, No. 34, West Denpasar, causing damages of over Rp. 750 million.
Two residents with burns were sent to hospital after becoming reportedly trapped in the fire. They were forced to evacuate out a back wall in the home.
“In the incident there were two victims of burns, who had been evacuated by the Denpasar City BPBD Ambulance to Wangaya District Hospital,” the Head of Denpasar BPDD Pusdalops, Ida Bagus Joni Arimbawa told Tribune.
The two people who were rushed to Wangaya Hospital were Dewi and Ali. Dewi was reported in serious condition with burns covering 72% of his hands and feet.
Ali was reported to have burns covering 45% of his head and hands.
Two houses, two motorcycles and one car were destroyed in the fire.
A neighbor reportedly told Tribune that they heard an electrical short circuit in the home before the blaze broke out.
“The owner Ketut Landrayana claimed that he suffered a loss of Rp 150 million, and the family of Mohammad Ali suffered a loss of Rp 600 million,” said Kalak BPBD Denpasar, Ida Bagus Joni Ariwibawa.
Last month the Toraja Bambu Boutique Hotel in Pecatu was burned to the ground in South Kuta causing RP 7.5 billion ($500,000 USD) in damages.
