Indonesia’s TransNusa Airline has become the first Indonesian carrier to launch a Bali – Guangzhou flight route.
Guangzhou, in China’s Guangdong Province, sits northwest of Hong Kong. The new flight service opens up a whole new world of travel opportunities for adventurous travelers.

Tickets for the new TransNusa Guangzhou – Bali flight went on sale this week with one-way tickets selling at a promotional rate of USD 149. In doing so, TransNusa has also launched the fastest and easiest flight routes between Guangzhou and Perth, Australia.
In a press statement the TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer and aviation veteran, Datuk Bernard Francis shared, “We are always looking at developing new routes to benefit our passengers. While traditional routes such as Bali to Perth and Bali to Guangzhou are important, we also strive to go the extra mile to provide fast as well as seamless connectivity to our passengers.”
He continued, “With the launch of our new Bali-Guangzhou route, our passengers can now enjoy one of the fastest scheduled connecting flights to either Guangzhou or Perth via Bali, with a transit duration of either 1 hour and 30 minutes or 2 hours and 35 minutes, depending on the day and time of the scheduled flights.”
Francis further revealed, “From April 13th to May 31st, on a weekly basis, there will be three connecting flights from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to Perth International Airport, Australia, while from Perth, there will be two connecting flights weekly via Bali to Guangzhou.”
He confirmed that the connecting flight service from Guangzhou to Perth via Bali will operate every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The connecting flight service from Perth to Guangzhou via Bali will be on Mondays and Saturdays.
TransNusa Airlines is hopeful that by providing a seamless connection for business and leisure travelers between Guangzhou and Perth more tourists from both China and Australia will stop over in Bali for longer than just their flight layover.
In January 2025 TransNusa Airlines confirmed the imminent launch of its Perth-Denpasar service. The route offers travelers an alternative low-cost travel option to popular providers such as Jetstar and AirAsia, as well as full-service airlines such as Virgin Australia.
Speaking at the time of the announcement the President Director of TransNusa, Bayu Sutanto, shared, “We are very enthusiastic and proud to introduce this Denpasar-Perth route. This route is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism sector of both countries as well as being a proof of our focus and capability in the international eye.”

New flight routes are being launched at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport every month. As Bali targets welcoming 6.5 million international tourists in 2025, Bali Airport is under more pressure than ever to provide seamless connections and sufficient flight availability, both internationally and domestically.
Last week Lion Air confirmed the launch of two new flight services that connect Bali and Lombok with Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan. The new domestic flight service gives Bali tourists the opportunity to broaden their horizons across the Indonesian archipelago, ticking off the cultural wonders of the Island of the Gods, the wild jungles of Borneo, and the relaxing shores of Lombok.

Speaking to reporters the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab confirmed that he is on a mission to help improve connectivity for tourists to and from Bali Airport.
He revealed that more flight announcements are due in 2025 and that he and his teams continue to work behind the scenes with airlines and other stakeholders to make this happen.

Shahab told reporters “We hope that with the increasing trend of passengers after the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of passengers in 2025 will reach full recovery or even exceed the achievements in 2019.”
